Sharing your formula on developer and B&W films

I know on and off there are some being recorded down in various different threads but hopefully can consolidate into one thread for easy reference?

I know kodak does provide guides for TMAX and D76 on their TMAX and TRIX films...

But there are other films like AGFA APX, Lucky 100 that i need some reference and help from the experts here...

Does ppl push these film and if they do, what should the formula be for TMAX developer, HC110 and maybe D76?

Some i googled and found...

actually, if i am not sure of the development and film combo, i usually resort to rodinal stand method. the assumption is that the film was rated at box speed, ie. a tri-x 400 at iso 400 and not pushed to 800 or 1600.

Rodinal stand method (how i do it):

a. pre-soak the film for 5mins, rinse twice.
b. prepare 1+100 into a cylinder.

so, i use a paterson system 4 tank which recommends 300ml of solution for a 35mm film
so using a 1+100 dilution, means that i use 3ml of rodinal and 297ml of water.
For medium format, the recommendation is 5ml of rodinal + 495ml of water making a 500ml syrup.

** I make sure the water is between 29 - 31C.

c. I pour the solution into the tank and I agitate very slowly for one 1minute.
Agitate slowly: 3 seconds = 1 slow inversion. 1 minute = 20 inversions.
"one thousand....two thousand....three thousand-ONE"
"one thousand....two thousand....three thousand-TWO"
...
"one thousand....two thousand....three thousand-TWENTY!"

d. I leave it alone for 40minutes.
(in most literature, the recommendation is 1 hour at 20C. I find that at 30C works well with 40mins)

e. Pour out, water-stop bath. Fix. Rinse.
f. Put in a drop of dish washing liquid and fill it with water slowly. Wait 30C and rinse
g. Hang to Dry.

I think the TS wanted some examples. No harm putting in photos for everybody to see. Everybody have a different set of techniques anyway. Always nice to see what else ppl have :-)

Thanks pal...yup...i like ur contrasty pics...didnt know HC110 can get some pretty decent pics :)

Can i ask dilution B temp at 20 and whats de timing if you can remember?

Tmax 400, ei 200 -400 Rodinal Stand.

Thanks Ray...very detailed! by de way, rodinal is hard to find locally anymore rite?

I quite like doing stand developing. Saves my developer and gives me free time to do other stuff (shower/tv/game/etc.) instead of having to stand by the tank and agitate every now and then.

Grains are pretty okay and the tones are to my liking.

Scandiacus, nice! inky black.

I am a newbie and need some help here.
Got my hands on a fm2 and coupled that with 135mm lens. This is what I got with Tri-x400 shoot at ISO400.
I developed the first roll with Tmax Developer, Ilford Rapid Fixer, Ilfostop Stop Bath and Kodak Hypoclear.
5785915722_068f358217_m.jpg

I used the following formula (from Iphone's Dev App, and friend's advice).
1) Developer at 1:9 ratio. Mix and shake for first 30seconds to 45 seconds, followed by per min interval shake until 10:30 min. Water from fridge (according to recommendation from Ruby)
2) Stop bath for 1 min . First 30 sec shake, 2nd 30second settle. Just use pinch of stop batch to 580ml of water at room temperature.
3) Fixer 1:4 ratio for 5min. No shaking required
4) Hypoclear (abt 3/4 spoon for 580ml). No shaking required. 2min.
5) Rinse with water, and bubble bath with liquid detergent.
6) Sponge the film evenly in downward direction and hang to dry.

Now my question is ...
1) where and what do I change if I want to push te film up by 1 or 2 stop ?
2) how do I make B+W film portrait speak up more. I am suspecting that I am using the wrong film for portrait. Any advice?

I myself is a newbie too but i think triX goes well with D76. Try shooting Tmax n develop with Tmax developer..

You got me there. What is d76?
