Nice shot of a male Plain Tiger ( Danaus chrysippus chrysippus) ~!

Thanks Sunny for the encouragement. Your close shots of the beautiful butterflies gave many budding photographers the inspirations to shoot their best.

Lesser Harlequin ( Laxita thuisto thuisto ) Male

24th & 25 Aug 2013 , RMK Trail , Singapore.

The Lesser Harlequin is a jungle butterfly which flits from leaf to leaf in the shade and settles with half-open wings. The two sexes can be distinguished by their colouration - the male is all black above while the female is reddish brown with a wing pattern like the underside. The underside is orange brown, ornamented by blue-edged black spots.

In Singapore, the Lesser Harlequin can be found in the Central Catchment nature reserve areas. The butterfly is fond of the shade and can usually be observed in shady forested spots. The males fly faster than the females and are more active.
