Terry and Anthony beautiful shots of the GM! 4x

Here is one that is becoming rare here in Singapore but plentiful up at Langkawi Island, where we encountered a colony of close to 10 individuals on the dry river bed.

Caught this sequence on trigger-happy-mode on the 1D3, as the Straight Judy took off , at ISO400 F/8 1/160s , Flashed, Handheld

shutter speed of 1/160 s is meaningless, the effective shutter speed was approx. 1 /10,000 sec.

A recent trip to Pulau Langkawi in northern Malaysia proved to be interesting for butterflies as well, despite the uncooperative weather. The main island of Langkawi is about half the size of Singapore, and is mainly undeveloped. There are many protected nature parks (called geo-parks) which are rich in biodiversity and should whet the appetites of macro, bird and landscape photographers.

Hotel rates with decent sized rooms (ghosts come free ;p), can vary from as low as S$40 per night. SilkAir flies directly from Changi Airport for those leaving from Singapore.

As Langkawi is a duty-free island, alcohol-loving photogs will enjoy a can of Tiger beer at only S$0.65, not to mention the wide range of wine and other liquor. ;)

A couple of butts shots from Langkawi, and the blog article of the trip - Languid Langkawi
