thats an interesting close up, but without either the top or underside of the wing details, its almost impossible to get the ID.
furthermore, its taken in Burnei...

I have a few more pics of the whole insect which are uncropped. I'll dig them out of my other hard drive later and post them.

I have no idea, but isn't it possible that there are quite a few species common within SE Asia?. Thanks for replying.

Saimee

yes, there are some common within south east asia, they range from india to hong kong to indonesia, but there are many variations, in singapore we have 290+ species and increasing slowly, and thousands in the entire South East Asia. most of us here are more familar with the butterflies of the peninsular of malaysia, but it wouldnt harm to see what u've captured!

Mark,

These are excellent series by any standard!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Top notch composition, clarity and creamy background are now your trademark!

You have done very very well since you started butterfly photography a year back.

Cheers!

Mark,

#3 is a top top shot!!! where the conventional wisdom of dun put your subject in the center and the two thirds rules does not apply:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Level the forewing , balance the space left and right to put it dead center, cleanup the blemishes and this shot is fit to hang on any wall !
