Andy,

Congrates on nailing the elusive Bamboo Tree Brown!!!!...... it is a male.

It is quite a rare butterfly, and most of all ,not easy to shoot this very alert butt in its habitat.

Cheers!

The Fall of Singapore ..... to the Ancyra Blue.

This species finally made it to the Three Southern Ridges! I was pleasantly surprised by around a dozen of them while taking a stroll at KRP today.

The following traces its appearance and westward journey onto the main island of Singapore from Pulau Ubin.

First encountered at Pulau Ubin by one of the ButterflyCircle members at end 2004, and later identified as the Catopyrops ancyra. The butterfly survives well and became a resident at some spots of the island.

In 2006 the species started appearing on the western edge of the CCA . In 2007 the frequent encounter of this species on bush land west of Bukit Batok area suggested that it has sucessfully migrated further west and established itselfs well on Singapore main Island.

At end Sept 2008, it has conquered the Three Southern Ridges......
