Nice Catch Jeff :) Just a little lower angle would be perfect!

Jeffrey,

Congratulation on the new T180 toys, I have no doubt that you will have hours of enjoyment and frustration in mastering it. Btw, you shots are much betten than mine during my initiation on the T180 .;p

Nice shots of the Abisara kausambi kausambi (tentative) and the Malayan, these two species are amongst the most challenging butterflies to shoot with proper exposure . These are sharp shots under the very difficult windy condition yesterday.

To be critical both butterflies were taken with an oblige angle from a slightly elevated position. As James had suggested a slightly lower angle will benefit the coverage of the DOF. Alternately back off slightly to give the DOF a chance to cover the whole butterfly.....although without the advantage of the crop factor , you can afford to do this with the advantage of the mega pixels of the D3 and crop it to your desired presentation. I hope our guru Simon will agree with my comments when he heads out with ya in the near future to give you further pointers !!;p

Nevertheless , these are enjoyable images as it is....... I guess you will be terrorizing them butterflies in the next couple of days to get your perfect shots! :bsmilie:

Once again welcome to the Butt chasing community and have fun!

Cheers!

James ,

WOW

Those are fantastic shots! I love the first Tiger on the Biden Pilosa flower. You are oredi in the groove with your T180 :thumbsup::thumbsup:

PS: wonder what that Leopard Lacewing cat is doing on the pea plant.

Sunny

Point taken. Will take note of that.. still learning to get the angle right....that's 50% of the challenge.

James

Great pictures.... where can I find these butts?

Nice to meet you at AH today, Jeffrey...

First contribution in Part III. Just sharing a common butt, Chilades pandava pandava (Cycad Blue). Very little time to shoot butts nowadays..

mtunlinn,

Thanks for the contribution!

Nice perch, background and details for the shot of this Cycad Blue, love the fading in of perch the butterfly is on.

It could be my monitor , there appears to be some JPEG compression/banding of the background . Nevertheless it is still a thoroughly enjoyable image.

Keeping them pictures rolling in when you have the time to shoot!

Cheers!

Thanks for the comments bro.

Yes there was banding. I only saw it when you pointed out. It was due to reducing the small file size from 190kb to 120kb. It is corrected now. Thanks.

Nice shots bros....

James, the pic with the ants is quite interesting. Wondering what the ants are doing there...

Those are beautiful pics!!

Had an uneventful day. Overcast day and topped with my lousy skills.. just no form....

#1. Banana Skipper. Due to the angle, could not get parallel to the butt.
