Just got an old LTM Japanese lens (Leica copy) from our friendly used camera store today for a song. Lens has a lot of cleaning marks and a small chip on the front element. Surprisingly tho, these seem to have no impact on the IQ:heart:

lens with flaws are usually more useable and cheaper.

i find i seldom use my minty lenses at all.

this is a common phenomenon, all the best pictures taken on inexpensive stuff :)

Hard to picture, but the lens surface looks something like this:

(BTW, the lens is marked Topcor-S 1:2 f=5cm Tokyo Kogagu, whatever that means.
It costs about 10% of a Summicron. I'm happy as a pig HAHA...)

Your copy look a bit soft. It could do with a CLA. Here's what a topcor capable of producing. It's a sharp and high contrast lens in my experience with nice modern rendering.

Topcor was produced by a long defunct Japanese optics company.
 

I like this lens just the way it is: gentle and not-so-modern drawing. Great for portraiture.
