This is a pleasant surprise for me.

Film is a chinese Lucky SHD100, which I have not really mastered yet in terms of development time. First time overdeveloped it in HC110b, second time (this time) I think I might have the time right, but the film still looks thick. I guess its because I did manual metering with my Nikon S2 with S.C. 5cm f1.4 (I guess its f1.4 and at least 1/1000s) and might have accidentally overexposed a stop or two.

The "glow" is a well known Lucky phenomenon because it has no anti-halation layer, so very bright areas tend to "migrate" to darker areas when contrast is very high. Anyway, it gives a very dreamy look without the need of tacky soft filters... I like it, and here's the result...

Nice glow effect! But it could also be inherent in the lens at f1.4. My LTM version of Nikkor 5cmmf1.4 glows at f1.4. But when stopped down to f2, the glow is gone & it delivers very sharp image. Anyway, I like the glow effect:)

True about the glow with the Nikkon 5cm f1.4 (S mount should be the same formula as your LTM) at f1.4. Glowy lens + glowy negative + over expose + over develop = good result!

ifirdauzi: Thanks for the tip. But I think when I finish my stock of Lucky I will switch over to ERA. people in Shanghai tell me that's a better film than Lucky. I'll vary my development in the future and see if I can predict the response of that film.

Brian, agree that ERA is better than lucky :) unfortunately here, i was flooded by lucky 100 and no ERA

Igor

I shoot a combination of Tri-X and Neopan (ss, 400 and 1600 at night) 90% of the time. Lucky and Era is just for fun (cheap!)... thinking that if I'm going to shoot Chinese people, might as well shoot them with Chinese film!

That picture at Changi, was that Neopan 400?

Brian, i am using MicroMF a cheap homemade developer, but again, with lucky below, they went along very well

Not just dual scan, but with any scanner, it almost never will appear the way you see the slide on the light box. You have to do some post processing work on PS.

ansel, make that a lot of processing. I can't get the same rich blues and greens. My blues just come out........ neon.

Hehe...that is the reason commercial people go for drum scan. Cost an arm and a leg for each scan but the results are amazing!!

no time/money. I just want accurate colors for web displaying. If i want prints, i'll do ciba.
