Nice panos ... I like this, it depicts the inherent chaotic nature of a market (if it is indeed a market) ...

thks... it is the floating market.

Excellent contrast! I really like the tone.

Heard the Lucky B&W only cost abt 7000 rupiah over your side... I think I am going to get "some" and play play over here. :)

Thanks for writing the rest of us off mate ;p

Kidding lah.... to be honest, that is a really good series. If u want to see some inspiring street/docu work, look at terence's blog. He uses all sorts of cameras for his work and its really

Good to know this thread is inspiring more and more people into RF.

Personally, I feel it's the photographer and the eye that makes the picture. Even if you throw a bulky DSLR or an instant $8 camera to some of these masters over here, I believe they can create the same results. :)

RF is indeed smaller than their counterparts. Bringing it along is easier and less intimidating to people. Some people even thought that the older RFs look so toy like and doubt that picture will even turn out from these antique. :bsmilie:

The more harmless the tool looks, the more formidable the picture it produces....

thanks..i thought had before writing this post cos i know sure offend some ppl. but seriously, i was looking forward to more inspiring street photography shots.

pardon my honesty....most of the shots post were like either walk alone the road just snap kind or sheepishly shooting ppl w a RF kind without any eye contact or what so ever.

i mean i know one of RF strength is stealth, but still....sorry to all....

just to add that there are some others that are nice too....just that these 2 pics like 'wow' kind. guess i just don like the idea of shooting ppl without them knowing or their permission...

honesty is a virtue mate. And if we can't take criticism we shouldn't be posting. I tend to agree with you about the lack of eye contact. I especially agree with one famous photographer (Capa) who used to say, if its not good enough, you're not close enough.

I think the key is that you mistakenly identify RF cameras with street photography. I for one prefer to use it more for when photography is not my main activity. Sorta like a backup camera for social occasions. Its equally good for landscapes etc. In the end, its a box that takes photos. And i think some ppl will even argue that SLRs are just as good if not better for street and documentary photography. Again, i point to the example that is terrence's blog (mrsanguine.blogspot.com). To each his own really. Whatever u're comfortable with.

Ifirdauzi, brilliant works with what looks like an xpan to me. Great eye contact as surge mentioned! Nice stuff from everyone though.

Not to worry, all different ways to approach in taking a photograph or even when looking at one :) All have different views ...

IMHO, the essence of street shooting is to take the so-called Moment, and many shots will not have eye contact - otherwise, it meant they posed for the photographer, or are indifferent, or are just plain surprised. Of course, there will still be great pictures even when posed.

Check out the Rangefinder forum (www.rangefinderforum.com) for a lot of street shots and other types, see what you like. You'll also see praises for "ordinary-looking" shots. Well, some people just see something that others don't, perfectly understandable. There are some portraits that you may like over there too.

At any rate, a rangefinder is just another camera, that has its advantages and disadvantages. Good rangefinders do lead the pack as the choice of streetshooters, though, and low light levels without flash, travelling light ....

Ifirdauzi's shots are very good, though. Check out his portfolio, wonderful street shots.

Yes, Clubgrit, well said... I totally agree with what you wrote, "different ways of looking at a photography or even when looking at one"

I hope we will continue to see more RF shots on this thread, be it eye contact, non-eye contact, street or non-street. Thanks to SzeKiat for creating this thread which allow people to post their picture, be it good or "not-so-good" and share with everyone. Personally, I don't think only technically perfect, inspiring photos should be shown and shared. Ordinary photographys, plain and simple may send as powerful & strong message as those by renown photographers.

One of the greatest joy of seeing other people's photographs is that it brings the viewer to the place the photographer has visited and paint a perspective the photographer sees. Sometimes, we might see certain things or discover something new, even we have crossed the same jucture 10 times. Sometimes, through the photos, even we have visited the place before, invoke certain kind of feelings that we never had before.

A photograph shows the personality of the photographer too. I had a chance to meet Mr Ifirdauzi a few days ago. From his photos, I get to feel a sense of humanity and humble feeling of the subjects and the things that he sees, that reflects in his personality from the brief encounter I had with him too. :)

Nice shots Igor!

Everyone, please post more pictures! Taken with any RF, digital RF, film RF, disposable pocket fix lens, Holga.....

ifirdauzi, can you share how u're scanning those xpan pix and what your scanning workflow is like in general? I always have problems trying to make my b/w scans look as good as my silver prints and my color scans to look anything close to what my 20D gives me. Obviously poor workflow on my end.

Szekiat,
I use Canon 4200F, manually set the limit of each negative edges and scan into negative BW on JPG at 3200 DPI. I tick the sharpening and also I tweak the curve i.e. gamma and contrast in Photostudio (software supplied by 4200F) before scanning
then I use Photoshop Elements 2.0 for resizing.

Regards
Igor
