Lovely, now that's what I call using a wide angle lens properly :-)

thanks clubgrit .. is there anything such as Magnum Singapore internship ? :)

can do internship with them .. work free i also don't mind. :)

Sorry, I am getting old, scratch that, should just state Magnum. I came across some works of a Philippine artist at Flickr that I liked, and when I saw her resume, it showed Magnum and Singapore and it stuck to my mind. Looking at it again now, she was given scholarship by the Angkor Photography Festival to train under a Magnum photographer, and is an artist represented in Singapore by Artesan Art Gallery. My mistake.

Well, saw Magnum's website accepting positions, don't know requirements though. Strong desire should be one :-). Maybe can be assistant to a Magnum member, New York or France would probably be interesting, sure learn something :-). My cousins who served in Iraq as marines brought back a lot of pics shot with their compacts, wish I was there ... not much to shoot in Singapore clean streets (or I just don't know where to go, suggestions welcome :)).

Hop by on Saturdays to Isle cafe @ 4pm... (anyway, it's just across the street from your office) we shoot one another... sure inspirational... :bsmilie:

Just kidding... same here... I seldom bring out my camera to shoot in Singapore. Not that there is nothing to shoot over here in this small island... having lived, stayed, slept, eat here for close to 40 years... everything seems mundane and boring.

But when I go to Japan... every small little thing is inspirational! But to a Japanese... Tokyo is the most boring place on earth... :bsmilie:

Anyway... having said that... I believe to make good pictures, apart from lighting & subjects, having an eye for things is important too. There are some young girls shooting with holgas and compacts... some of the shots they produced are so... inspirational. Everyday things but look so special from another angle and perspective.

One example over here is Dovevadar pics... some of them taken over here at the streets of Singapore... but the bokeh and the angle sure makes the subject more interesting...

Haha, Chiif, I will be very bored looking at cameras and lenses there (just not my thing), although it can be fun using you guys as models :).

Yes, thanks on the info, and I agree on Holga and Dove.

This is the link - Wawi

Don't know if you will like it, after all art is subjective, and inspiration is different among us. Like I don't look into pictures, so I am not into bokeh and such so much. I do appreciate a lot of works, you can see the diversity in my favorites.

Here's one Singaporean artist whose works I like, more on drama, soul - Vanessa

It's just that I am still struggling to document Singapore and its people in pictures, in a more dramatic way than usual (just a pet project). Out of hundreds of pics I took, I think I only like less than 10. It's out there, I just don't get it yet, it may take years. Need to go out more and practice :). I asked one artist at Flickr (Gary) how he finds his subjects, he told me that I should go looking for the archetype, but qualified later that after thinking about it, it seems like the archetype comes to him rather than him finding it.

Anyway, sorry for the OT.

Hi,

Thanks for the comments. No need for red filter these days. If you like bw, try Silver EFX Pro.

thanks for the link clubgrit... Good stuff ! :)

I am avoiding the bokeh thing also when I have so many f1.2 stuff.

This Angkor Photography Festival thing, my friend was telling me abt it also.. Dam cool to be able to work under a magnum photographer and take pics with a purpose ..

Somemore RF stuff before I can upload any for awhile

and the pic that got me hook on Leica system 21/2 years ago.. From the 1st roll of film I loaded into M6 with a help from a Konota's customer. The 1st roll of film I use in my life.

Wow. Very steep price... But the results look really good. What you pay is what you get I suppose.

depending on the tide, you may have to walk in the water to get to his particular spot... prepare to set up tripod in the water also :bsmilie:

Thanks.. not easy to understand that super wide angle lens. still trying hard. ;)

Hi,

Yes, the 15mm CV is a lens that will challenge a photographer. With the M8, the fov is that of a 21mm. I lost the fov of the 21mm with the M8. But this tiny lens is now my '21mm'.

I wonder if the new M-Mount 15mm is better than the LTM Version. Chiff, any trade-in price?:)
