You gotta turn on the dust & scratches removal setting
If you turn that on while scanning b&w, you will super weird scansThis only works for color film.
what kind of super weird scans for b&w?
i have no problem with epson ICE turned on for both color and mono films.....
You should not be able to scan b&w with ICE turned on. ICE uses IR to figure out where are the scratches and stuff. Screws up B&W scans coz the emulsion in b&w (residual silver) is opaque to IR.
ic... so i guess there isn't any silver content in ilford xp2 and kodak cn which i'm using at the moment with ICE turned on when scanning...
Ah these are chromogenic films - C-41they can use ICE.
Kodachrome also had the same issue and couldn't be scanned with ICE on. I'm not very sure but maybe later they managed to scan it by doing something with the hardware.
great.... learnt something new on scanning... thanks.![]()
