But it is time to get a secondary and more portable medium as discussed this evening;p
Actually, must be the far end of the canyon rim (North Rim, as I was at the South Rim) is not level. I did a full levelling of the tripod head - Photoclam Multiflex (poor man's Arca Swiss Cube), and according to the spirit levels on the head, the camera is totally level.

I guess you're right then. Here's one of a similar landscape and exposure I took sometime last year. It's from Dead Horse Point and was taken into an evening sun. Poor timing I guess. Second one has a little better exposure.
