shamsul meets all the criteria to officiate the final:

he's strict
he's fair
he's not from any country playing in the final
he's not blind
he knows how to count
he cannot be conned

Hope he can be the referee in World Cup 2006 Final. :)

Shamsul is not selected for any quarter-final match:cry:

Does this means he is dropped??

jus read from Soccernet..

his name is not is the retain list..

The 12 referees retained are: Toru Kamikawa (Japan), Coffi Codjia (Benin), Benito Archundia (Mexico), Horacio Elizondo (Argentina), Jorge Larrionda (Uruguay), Mark Shield (Australia), Massimo Busacca (Switzerland), Frank de Bleeckere (Belgium), Luis Medina Cantalejo (Spain), Markus Merk (Germany), Lubos Michel (Slovakia), Roberto Rosetti (Italy).

:(

What a joke.

Here we are giving him our full praises, then FIFA decides to drop him.

Does anyone suspect a conspiracy?

wat the hell man, they only going to retain the referees from the strong team countries???

FIFA is just continuing to show the world what a bunch of morons they are.

the crap referees they don't punish.

the best referee they drop.

just wait for another refereeing debacle in the Final. :bsmilie:

Bah... FIFA is full of politics. Almost all the referees retained are from strong footballing nations. I bet there are some strings pulling behind the scene. FIFA certainly don't want to offend any of the bigwigs by asking a referee from a small fry footballing nation.

Can you be a little more objective? Ofcourse, big football nations is likely to produce more seasoned refrees. that said, Poll from England was excluded because of the fiscal ofr 3 yellow card to on player during the Aus-Cro game. Last time I looked, Englad is a strong footballing nation. What's the name of that guy from Benin, he is in, and last look, Benin is definately not a strong footballing nation.

Hey, football always come with passion. This is not about being objective, but being disappointed that current form counts for nothing and indulging a bit of conspiracy theory about FIFA. Poll was not selected as his mistake was too big to be discounted. Also in the World Cup, reputation and experience with big occasion will be the main criteria. But who really knows what strings were pulled behind the scene.

My take on this is that, if you look at the list, there's at least one ref from each major continent. Mind you, the next world cup will be in Africa. If Blatter had not chosen an african ref, imagine the noise. Anyway, I think FIFA already have certain 'more experience' refs to choose from rather than Shamsul... nvm it's his first outing, hopefully it'll not be the last we hear of Shamsul being nominated to officiate major matches... anyway, job well done.

(Think FIFA bigwigs don't look at Soccernet :) )

FIFA Kelong!!!:sticktong

Its simple. FIFA is not kelong but they're a bunch of kuku birds.

Sept Blatter and FIFA instructed refs before the WC to come down hard on players who play act or rough play like elbow etc. When the cards are shown, Sept Blatter made noise and critisied his refs. kuku or not?

Racism they want to kick out but what is the punishment? A measly fine of a few thousand euros on the offending FA and club. What is a few thousand euros to those FAs and clubs?

Remember, Sept Blatter once said that women footballers should wear short sexy shorts and top when playing. :bsmilie:

But yeah, Shamsul already performed over expectations, I don't really expect him to ref the semis or final. But a Q-final slot will be nice. Or assisting 4th official.
