SGTrekker's Photos from 6D5N Central Vietnam Photography Tour (10-15 Feb 2012)

I'm a little confused where we are now. Because Group one and Group two had slightly different itinerary - directly opposite each other.
But never fear, Ladies and Gentlemen. We will find our way there.
Here are some river views...

Wow... water taxi!

Day 3 Hue: Langco Fishing Village... cont'd.

Continuing...
This Langco Fishing Village is interesting because it is quiet, remote and cold.
We walked slowly on the beach. And looking afar, we saw the mistiness of the sea out there.
The chilly breeze, and gloomy sky and the quietness of the whole place really brought out the feeling of isolation, for want of a better word.

I walked with nihao11 side by side.
And he asked me: "What are you shooting, limwhow?"
I thought for a little while and I replied him: "I am trying to shoot this little fishing village, hopefully to be able to convey the desolate atmosphere that permeates it."
I am not sure if I have attained that. But as always, no harm giving it a try.

... Of boats and bare trees...

But. Deep in the heart of this quaint little village, her people radiated a warmth that came as a surprise.
Again, such spontaneity.

We walked into the village and came to this young man having his porridge breakfast on his dining table.
He spotted us and gave us the Mega-Wat Central Vietnam smile.

"Nothing to do, so I pick my teeth..."
This handsome young fisherman told us (through translator) that the weather is bad, so they are not out at sea today.

And when people have free time, what do they do? They play.
Wow.. haven't seen people playing cha teh for the longest time liao..

.. and when the adults do nothing much, the children also do nothing.
Perhaps, in retrospect, that should be what life is all about.
Sighzzz... we have been working ourselves too hard back home in Singapore.

limwhow, you were 1 day late. If you stick by nihao11 side tight tight 1 day earlier, we would have more shots of ladies in white Ao Zai in Citadel!

Now we have to work harder to support our photography activities !! ;)

Yes, I think its good demonstration that you have attained what you have in mind.

Day 3 - En route to Hoi An...

Wah lau eh... ever since shooting with rangefinder, my brain like kena fried like that.
I used to have memories of an elephant. But nowadays I have lost it. For good, maybe.
No longer like Divinemoment like that already. His memory is now more elephant than mine.
Why do I say that?
Because, I am sooooo confused I can't even remember the chain of events.
Which day go where, did what... all mixed up liao.. sigh...

Anyway, on this day, our bus took us from Hue to Hoi An.
We drove drove drove... then suddenly... kena traffic jam along the mountain road.
What happened?
Orh... in front there was a bus that knocked a dent into a motorbike and they all were waiting for the mata to come and write report.
So the whole long line of vehicles were jammed long long behind... all waiting for mata to come..

Hai Van Pass

Finally, the mata came.
And the crowd dissipated.
And we continued our mountain journey.
En route, we passed by the famous Hai Van Pass.
Our guide Tommy said, here was where the military fort was held.
And when the North Vietnam Communist Force came down south, they marched through this pass.
Nothing has changed since.

We stopped for a while. Many of these folks too lazy to climb up the slope stayed down and shot themselves crazy.
6940575509_a3f3fcdb0a_z.jpg

But some of us more hard-working folks climbed the slope up and had better views.
Here chucky1, Derek and nihao11 had their fun.

... and I had mine with some erm.. mood shots of the rocks, stones and far-away mist...

.. and of mossed-bricks and grasses..
6940526657_7069558500_b.jpg

... and of rusted metals and flaking paint...
