Wow, slamet, welcome back on the thread! the cropping of the little girl is nicely done!

Chucky1, those captions were added during the long bus ride between delhi-agra-jaipur.

coozie! yeah. the sweet deal of being the last man indeed. but you still need to post your photos too ya. dont be the last one to post your photos hor. i have seen you taking lots of photos too!

hello Ted888. welcome in and thanks for dropping by!

Houho! i believed that you have lots of photos taken too! dont wait anymore. the delhi group going to catch up soon liao. ;)

limwhow, daoyin! thanks for dropping by. will show more photos (with and without caption).

The last man moves on to day 3, start of our 4D3N trekking to the Spituk Stok La Pass

Day 3 of the trip, all of us were still acclimatising at approximately 300metre since our landing at Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport (3,256 m). Elevation keepers, please verify with your data. haahaa

The team were always made up of 3 team, the "advance contigent" led by the diamox peddlers, the main body by Adrian and the rear man contigent by coozie and myself. This is a rare sight that i can still see the entire group in my view..

However, the sight of the entire team vanished and Like what coozie said, the last man will always get photos with no one in it.

Wah! Lovely! Lovely! I love all the bubble bubbles!
Well done, Melvin and Adrian - whichever one of you!
Keep them coming!

It was getting hot, dry and desolate. Our guide Landup told us that there was a cafe restaurant further ahead and we could take a break there. My pace quickened as the thought of an iced tea or pastries in this sweltering heat spurred me on. There was a slight tinge of disappointment when i approached the 'cafe restaurant', but any form of life or civilisation, in this desolate land, was enough to add a little cheer.

We met up with the old owner who recounted the story of how he was almost swept away in last year's flash flood. He survived by climbing up one of the nearby elevated peaks and saw his restaurant being washed away... It was hard to imagine a flood or even rain in such a remote area, let alone a flash flood; but there was indeed a flash flood, a short sudden heavy downpour in August 2010 which killed close to 200 people. Goes to show how small and insignificant life can be in this unforgiving terrain... my condolences to the families of the departed.

Nearby uphill, i saw some people erecting a pole. Looked very much like a scene out of Flag of our Fathers

It was nearing 3pm when we approached Zingchen Valley, where our campsite was. Was one of the rare patches of green we saw along the way since the start from the trailhead.

We soldiered on after the short break at the 'cafe restaurant', pass desolate peaks and rocky terrain. The sky was deep blue and weather was beautiful. But my mind was just set on getting to the campsite as soon as possible. Fatigue had set in and i needed to rest... fast!

We arrived at the campsite about an hour later. A nice calm oasis with a running stream and cool shade in the middle of a barren desert.

THe horses were resting and chewing on the sparse patches of grass and bark nearby.

A little further away, i spotted two tourist resting. They seemed like ants in this land meant for Giants.

Like the first shot, nice moment with his movement. It looks like Tri X. Very nice series of colour photos too. Looks alot like film.

Hi washi *wave wave

Welcome back! Hope the second part of your trip was as fun as the first! :bsmilie:

Thanks chubbykei, the second part was fun too though a bit chaotic, not as quiet as Ladakh.

through out the entire trip, we must really thank this important person who brings lots of fun and memories to the local. This lady brought along a instant camera and started distributing photo prints to most of the kids / elderly / teens and respectful monks. Please allow me to introduce the kind lady - ChubbyKei!

Looking at the smiles that were painted on these novice monks, im sure they are happy to have their photos printed and given to them.

Wah... Chubbykei is very clever now liao!
She learns fast... from the old Fuji Instax Mini carrier on all our previous treks... haha!
Good job!

Chubbykei - deliverer of photos from the sky.

Hi SgTrekker, limwhow and Daoyin..

Firstly, I would like to thank you for your kind words. But I cannot take any credit :embrass:

SK1968 was the one who suggested to bring an instant camera. Though his motives were more to "pian" little kids into smiling for the actual cameras :bsmilie: Hahaha! Little did I know that the adults were just as fascinated and requested for their pics too.

And credit also goes to limwhow whom I believe, was the first "trekkie" who brought an instant camera on his trips - motive unknown  SK1968 thought it was a good idea after seeing the good doc in action. I merely sourced for a camera.

So thanks to SK1968 and limwhow - the original "Instax-Man", I hope we brought some smiles and good memories to all that posed for our fellow trekkies *clap clap clap :vhappy:

Nice capture of her expression Washi. Nice shot on the little shu qi too. Please show us more of those shots resulting from your zigzag detours :)

Thanks SK1968, but actually not as sharp as yours. Wanted to get up-close shot but my lens is only 50mm. BTW, below a few shots of day 1 trek from near the edge of the river.

The instant camera is one of the many brilliant ideas I picked up during the trek. In future, expect to see more (me) carrying one.

Next question: which Fujian instax is best for this kinda trip??

Yes, these are the shots we were all wondering what washi got when he wandered off the beaten track. I like the processing too, makes them very dramatic. :)

I would think it is the 7s Mini. I find it very handy weight and size wise. Quality is not too crappy too.
