sorry, i must have rather limited knowledge of GWCs. :embrass:

sexy shoot marathon may just be the cure some need. shoot till sianz, den shoot other subjects for change! :bsmilie:

Pardon me, but what is GWC? :) Seems like so many acronyms for me to learn..

GWC = (mostly refered to) Guy With Camera

:)

rarely used as Gal With Camera... :sweatsm:

aiyah... if sex doesn't sell, mediacorp dun need to flash bods on prime time tv liao :D

Clubsnap gets this kind of commentary thread about twice a year. Still if you trace back historically, the demands for such photoshoots are always there.

To me its just another form of photography. Like macro, nature, landscape, lomo, nudes, fashion, pop, or any other category of photography. If there is a demand, there is a supply. What goes on in the minds of the photographer may also contribute to the results of the shoot. So who's to say that an artistic nude photographer is not having the same emotional & physical responds as a dirty old man with a cheap P&S? And who's to judge which of their work appeals more to the general public. And who's to judge a person's morals or motives? Does voting against this kind of shoots seem more "correct"? ;)

I guess its just becoz we are in singapore. Part of our asian heritage pushes us towards a conservative respond but our cosmopilitan country makes some of us more liberal. You don't see this kinds of questions asked in a photography forum overseas as it is an acceptable form of expression. Even in so called "conservative" China, nude photography is very much in demand.

I am a nature photography lover. So if one day, the demands of nature photography becomes overwhelming, would someone start asking if this is a nature forum or a photography forum? :bsmilie:

why not?

artistic nude is part of photography, not the other way round.

i dont quite agree to zplus's points about 'I am a nature photography lover. So if one day, the demands of nature photography becomes overwhelming, would someone start asking if this is a nature forum or a photography forum? '

you have to admit that that nature photography doesnt insult anyone, doesnt harm anyone (except maybe that leaf might be shy you're taking his photo. hurhur) and will not rampantly spread as much as nude/soft porn photography would. its pretty obvious and logical that when it comes to matters of the flesh, it becomes quite hard to stem the flow after awhile. one come, more will come and if you dont nip it in the bud, it will eventually take over this forum.

this is quite unlike nature photography, where people either hate it or like it. whereas, everyone likes sex, at least, almost everyone. i dont think the comparison or illustration is well thought out or fair.

and if you say that historically, demand for such things has been around, i guess the mods have to take a stand whether they want it or not. i think it will come to a point, if nothing is done now, where something HAS to be done, firmed up and made concrete that YES - go ahead, you can have all this and things will get out of hand, or NO, we do not condone such things here, if youre interested in these kind of things, by all means, we're not here to judge your preferences but feel free to engage in these kind of activities elsewhere.

i dont see whats wrong in a forum or a site at least, stating what kind of content it allows and will not allow. its nothing to do with censorship but rather the interests that the forum chooses to endorse.

and i would also like to add that we are probably discussing here about the problem of thread titles and themes for photoshoots being rather soft-porn, rather than artistic nude.

again, i would like to point out that i'm a girl but i see no problem in artistic nude photography at all. in fact, i wouldnt mind trying some out in future. its just the fetishist/raunchy themed photoshoots like the jappo school girl types or the policewoman dominatrix themed shots are probably the points of contention here. there is a line, albeit maybe a fine line, but there is still a line.

and i wanted to paste an example for you guys the other day - http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=428392
dont nose bleed all over the place hor.

but yeah. oxymoron there - 'sexy lingerie to sexy nude pose for photographers to shoot' and 'pose her for artistic nude style' is how not the same thing man.

bravo for speaking out. I think it would be more impactful if more female members of the community spoke out like yourself then a buncha men doing it.

its admirable that the men are too, more so than women i feel. because these photoshoots are targetted more at the male-dominant audience of clubsnap what. and you guys saying no to it means more than if the girls said it. ups to you guys, i really respect you all! :)

This is a good reminder of what we are discussing once more.
Although what comprises of an "artistic nude" is up for discussion

No, people just roll their eyes and think to themselves "pervert".
Tolerating is one thing, accepting is another.
(Although I'll accept that a person is a pervert)

Anyhowwwwww. I don't think nude shoots are such a big deal. But if you read some of the threads posted that play up the HOT SEX PORN STAR part, even if I was serious about nude photography I would be bloody ashamed to be associated with that.
Dammit it's something I surf the internet alone at home for, not something I go hang out with a bunch of people for
Talk about a bunch of dicks hanging out.

Ok, I'll admit I have not gone into the photoshoots section for a while (months/years). I do get what you guys mean by the way these shoots are advertised and yes they do sound over the top. I am against too much control and censorship when it comes to the arts but yes, they do sound like targetting that kind of "Yangtze Cinema" clientele. I guess, we'll have to let the mods make a call on this. :)

One thing I do noticed, just now when I visited the links and the section, is that these shoots do overwhelm the photoshoots section. Which does drown out any other categories of photoshoots. Perhaps the mods can consider subcategories of shoots also. ;)
