alex, go to computer management, select the disk management then right click on the partition and format.

where is this computer management???control panel?
or mycomputer? If its the latter, I had already tried so. It still prompt me format cannot be completed

Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Computer Management->Disk Management

cannot..disk management did not reflect that HDD...anyway I am using a Xdrive pro,connecting to the PCvia USB...

when you plug in, your win2K should detect it, in your windows explorer it will show a new drive. did it?

cannot be pai lah..coz I was using a 5GB HDD before I replace it with thisnew 40GB one..
As you said, it did refect all the medias availble on my Xdrive pro..just that I cannot format my HDD to Fat32...oh and I succeed in formatting the HDD in NTFS..but I thatwill not work with my Xdrivepro

detected the Xdrive pro with all its media slots...includsive the HDD capabilities..but when I refer to the disk management, the HDD is not reflected
