Hmmmm, ok... tricky. i want an upgrade of the kit lens but is good for landscapes and buildings... do u know of any other lenses that might suit the bill?

17-40 now can be got for around $1.1k if you spot the correct person in BnS .. i'm getting the lens from him too
 

if it is cheap, then it is common (affordable mah).....
but alot of ppl can live with 1-stop slower, can compensate with ISO 1-stop higher.
cost factor also outweight the additional 1mm.

Among the 17-35L, 16-35L, the 17-40L has the best distortion control which I feel is essential. For sharpness, colours wise, the 16-35 should win a bit, but overall winner I feel is the 17-40L.

problem is that the 300d and 10d has noise issues with higher ISOs ... :think:
