the ideal range for portrait should be around 70-200 on a 35mm..so you do the multiplications loh...
85 will be more ideal in this case...135 is abit long but hey, some of the canon users swear by it loh...
Just as the same for nikon, the better lens to have will be the 85 F1.4

good morning.... was rushing thru photos last nite till 4am...

Ok, me got a question here, some canon gurus can advise? :D

between e 85 f1.8, 100 f2 and 135 f2.
which one would you all prob get?
are they all comparable in terms of sharpness, speed and bokeh etc?

Thanks guys! :)
bro, get all 3 lenses then no need to ask which one better.
i lean towards 135f2.

i guess as much... :bsmilie:

But between e 100 and e 135L, is the a significant difference in term of optics and speed etc? esp for portraits shot?
im not so sure coz im a nikon user..
but I think you can do a read up? If i guess correctly the 135 will be better right????

haha somebody tell arcanic all 3 good, so he can buy all n let me play with them :)

wait til i win bigsweep, then i buy all 3... :sticktong

wah... scud, u another one.. i dun print $$ le.. :bsmilie:

nw/alec - seems like its either the 85 or e 135, hehe, i was thinking some might say get the 100 cos its in the middle of both.

85 is more affordable at this time though, maybe til i get a proper job, might go for e 135. haha

100mm? i presume everyone is referring to the 100 macro? nice and sharp. but, IMO, way too sharp for portrait shooting. but, dats just me. :embrass:

if between 100 and 135, i'll go for 135 of course. again, depends on wat u wanna shoot.

erm, nope, there's a 100 f2 (there's another one for macro). Saw it in the canon website, and yesterday saw dennis using e 100mm. So tot ask around see what experience u guys have with e different lenses... :D

eh, NS.. i tot u are using the 180mm? ;p wouldn that be even longer than e 135?

1.3K.....

let's see...

everyday eat instant noodles for lunch, save $3 a day...
that'll be 434 days to save up 1.3K... :bsmilie:

ok, time to start eating instant noodles from today.. hehe

ard there.

arcanic - the 85/1.8 is a good buy. pretty 'affordable' (if u call $600+, new, affordable...). why not be patient and wait for a good 2nd-hand deal?

alex - actually, there's no too long or too short for a portrait lens (u know me, i dun subscribe to the idea of a 'portrait' lens). last yr at russell wong's workshop, he was telling us dat sports illustrate shooters use 300mm to shoot their models outdoors. and we are complaining 135 is too long...

Okie this is what I heard from a portrait master who likes to take black and white in a studio..he said the best range will be 70-200mm loh...so once the range is fulfilled, the rest of the considerations will go to optical superiority loh
