those normal flatbed scanners can only scan at 600dpi, anyhing higher is interpolated by 2 pass (or more) scans, means longest length is about 600px to 800px max.

send it to the shops lor. KT does pretty good scanning. since it's only one-off, no point spending $ on a scanner.

I also wan to archive my family pics a couple of years back, but then decided to postpone it due to cost and HDD limitation.
