alex - PB? dats meant for (a) repaying my credit card debts, (b) repaying my wife whom i borrowed $$$, and (c) paying my income tax. :sticktong  :bheart:

Wah! ..mine most likely will go into the bank to beef up the $$ before spending on some equipment again...comes in slowly but goes out fast and furious keke

You will meh?

Thought you wanted to jump ship to nikon?

I've yet to see any D2x leh :sticktong

Anyway from the various forums Nikon QC standard also seem to be dropping loh...

All I ask for is a system that gets the pics I want, when I want it... which mainly means fast and accurate focusing... Got bad experience with 5700 being slow focusing... and 10D being only accurate 90% od the time.

Hmm .. the battery is disappointing. So is the grip. The slow buffer, the spot metering as you mentioned in the other thread. Really not surprising the russians come out with a 350D -> 20D hack soon.

Somehow its starting to boil down like the 10D vs 300D saga again

For now have to turn a blind eye to this and get my "white" first :(

Hmmm .. is it? Can't be that bad the QC ...

I guess since you're after performance, you have to go for the 1 series or D2 series in nikon. .. Prosumer cameras always a tad slow, been using the 7i for a while, asking me to switch back to it would be tearing my hair out  focusing is damn slow.

Everyone here is still learning leh...

Actually, I tot there was some discussion on either going to the Zoo or JBP on 26 Feb... dunnoe still on or not... cuz need time to secure discounts on entry fee...

SBG shoot sunbirds too "civilised" loh... have you tried the punggol playground? I can't find it tho  ... saw plenty of small birds but are unable to get a good shot of them....j/k.

Actually what I have in mind is that someone to go though the basics of long lens photography and (especially) how to find birds and approach birds.... I hope the others have similar thoughts... so, let every one decide loh.
Hi CYRN,

Well, I was thinking that since most of the ppl here are newbies to bird shoot, it may be best to start off in a so called "civilised" environment like SBG, its best to start off with the basics first, i.e. exposure, composition, shutter speed, the do's and don't's of bird photography, the correct way of approaching the bird etc. I thought of sunbirds coz 1) they make excellent subject material 2) they are quite easily found 3) are relatively easy to approach, even if you are using a shorter lens. Of course SBG do have other birds too, but for good first results and practice sunbirds are preferred. And that place is easily accessible to all also. I know of Punggol area, been there before, but its quite remote, lots of walking to do if u dun have transportation, and can be quite hot too.

For 26 Feb, I can't make it, u guys go ahead with your JBP shoot. Or, if anyone still interested, make the SBG sunbird shoot on tentatively Sun 27 Feb morning? Those who are interested, let me know. :)

Garion, what's your birding set up?
Using Canon 10D (same as you) with 300mm lens + TCs. :)

Interesting ...

Looks like have to painfully look away for now, improve my skills first ;)

Would love to go for bird shoots but problem is that i always got problem getting up :embrass: :p
