Erh ... i'm not allowed to mention his name .... :bsmilie: but can vouch that it works for both 550EX and 580EX ... performance wise very impressive. But CP did mention to him ( i was around bioing the battery pack :sweatsm: ) that its more for the 580EX, works for the 550EX as well.

can CP-E2 be used with the flash instead of CP-E3?
diff is CP-E2 uses 6xAAs, E3 uses 8xAAs.

1) I do not have 580EX.

2) CP-E2 for EX550, CP-E3 for EX580

3) Somehow some ppt use CP-E2 for EX580 too

My advise is just go for CP-E3 loh. Why pay for old model when u can get a new one ?

Confirm CP-E3 can be use for EX550 and EX580

CP-E2 is for the 550EX, 580EX uses the new CP-E3.

CP-E2 can be used with 580EX too, same type of connector, and vice versa.

I will not get battery pack. So u gng to get 580EX too?

CP-E2 and CP-E3 almost the same lar, just that CP-E3 got two more AA batts, thus charge slightly faster, and also easier to load and unload as the batts are in a bracket or frame, just slide in and out of the casing. The big difference is in the flash, 580EX does have a significant faster charging cycle than the older 550EX.

So if you got 580EX probably the CP-E2 good enuff. Cheaper than CP-E3 too.
