Selling photos on stock photo sites

I completely disagree. Upload exposure is vital in my opinion.

With Shutterstock you usually have to keep uploading reguarly otherwise your downloads will fall and in some cases stagnate. I always get a significant boost when I upload reguarly. Can turn a $20 month into a $100 month very quickly.

that is what i was experiencing too. it calls for constantly uploading. pretty sad for me if i dont have time to shoot and submit pictures. i didnt upload for awhile and i only got 2 sales a day lol..

wildstallion is it posible to view your portfolio?

Finally one of photo sold in fotolia. I just joined in 3rd March. I came to know about the stock photography sites from this forum only. THANKS to everybody for the valuable comments in this thread

I think upload exposure is important. Some of my photos have been sitting there for 2 years in Dreamstime but never got sold. Just when I start uploading again, I managed to sold 1 of my old photos!

now fotolia required photo ID proof for making payment? Did anybody know about this? when we join fotolia, there is no such requirement.. this is new rule added
What about Dreamstime? They also asking Photo ID proof for payment? is it safe if give copy of passport or IC?

Most ask for it now, its perfectly safe, Shutterstock make you submit it when you sign up. Dont think Dreamstime do yet though. Cant remember ever submitting mine to them

congratulations! which picture is it?

I saw it. It is this one! Very dramatic pic!

hi guys.. need help

Comments from the iStockphoto Administrator:

In order to become a contributing artist at iStockphoto, you must have valid photo identification such as a Government issued Photo ID, Photo Driver’s License or Photo Passport. The valid photo identification at a minimum will need to confirm your identity, full name and date of birth.

You may upload your Photo ID by photographing or scanning your photo identification in legible JPG format. Please crop and rotate the image to its correct orientation and upload it using the Upload link from the left hand navigation. Once your valid Photo ID has been replaced we will continue to review your application. Thank you.

just to confirm.. they want a scanned picture of my identity card?
Thanks

hey i got that message too.. apparently i wasn't too alert and sent them a passport photo. I think they want some form of card.. "such as a Government issued Photo ID, Photo Driver’s License or Photo Passport".

anyone knows what happens if they (iStockPhoto) reject the first 3 pics i sent in? Do I need to re-apply for an account?

Basically, you just re-upload another 3 pics again. But they will not let you upload immediately. Need to wait like a few days. No need to recreate an account.

Use your driving license if you have.

Any photo ID should do. There are age requirements as well as verifications to ensure that there is a legitimate transaction.

There is a local website that does not require photo ID. It's registered under a Singapore company. Photostocked.com is in its initial stage, do comment on the site, feedback and constructive criticism is appreciated. Thank you.

I thought it shld be Passport instead? Becuz I was asked in iStockphoto

i used IC, they don't accept.... hhhmmm
