Seller not honouring his own rules.

??

The seller did not violate anything in his post at all. He wrote buy now price is $600, meaning he will sell IMMEDIATELY to anyone who offers him $600. If you WANT the camera, just bid $600. That is what the buy now price is for you know.

Actually for $600, you can probably get a cheap DSLR with kit lens. Like the E300 or something.

Pat pat.....I have worse experience than you where the buyer won the bid but purposely delay in meeting up, then a few days later said he found a better deal.....another case I was the buyer, the meetup time and venue was agreed but last minute he called and said item sold liao.....Lan Lan....it's not even worth my time to rate these cheapo face so just forget it and move on :dunno:

I had similar situations as yours. I waited for the buyer which we agreed to deal in the morning. Half an hour later, my patience runs out and i message him only to get a reply that he just woke up and found out he hasn't got enough money. :what:

i guess kelvin is expressing his frustration and rightly so. when a seller engages a buyer with a b&s posting he/she is seeking the involvement of the buyer, his/her time commitment (to bid, monitor the thread, bid again, etc). When all that effort goes down the tubes due to seller not following a fair practice, it frustrates a good disciplined & sincere buyer (e.g. like Kelvin). It wastes time & energy, and sometimes only for a few more $$$.

Agreed that b&s may not be governed by legal stipulations, contracts etc like in the real world, but hey...does it take that much more from us in the CS community to make the experience here exemplary!?!! I think not...have seen & met some wonderful buyers & sellers here, so of course there must be some lemons too. I support kelvin and am with him in what he feels re. his situation. If buyer had a higher offer, least he could do was note the last highest bidders contact hp details and left him an sms/PM. It would have still ended with the item not having found it's way to Kelvin but at least the bitter after taste could have been avoided. B&S is all about being courteous and fair imho. So sorry about that Kelvin, hope you will meet some great sellers here in future who will totally change your opinions and give you a nice feeling, hang in there...!

Cheers. :)

TS,
This is part and parcel of B&S section
I have seen many and EXPERIENCE a few too
Some seller I guess they are just testig market
Once BNP not reach they just claim "item sold"
Than few month later same seller selling the same stuff again

Just my 2 RMB worth

Mmm i see. But the seller has state that he will close on friday... Sigh. I was ready to up my bid anything anyone outbids me, because he has the cam i want and the equipment that i need and also within my budget..
Oh well, guess **** happens.

i think he may not have go against his own words..... the latest higher bid was S$550 and yes he did say he will close the bid on friday. But you may have omit the "BNP : S$600" in the first post of the thread.

I hope you do understand what's BNP meant.....

Then I've noticed that there's another kind of seller. One who initially was willing to sell at $XX, but then after receiveing extremely positive responses and despite already having an offer of $XX, he/she doesn't agree with the buyer, but let the higher offers come in, and will most likely sell to the highest bidder.

Then, there are others who placed an ad just to 'test market'.

my worst experience is agree on time & place to meet for viewing & collection or good. But seller didn't turn up and no longer in contact, waste my time ;(

Also have 2 cases where seller honour the deals when there are other offer higher

But also one cases where seller prefer to sell to other who offer higher price, after agree on pricing and place to meet :( , but still not as bad as the worst case where seller don't turn up at all .

I am quite lucky, never meet any bad buyer or seller for the last 2 years.

Usual case is to get the person's contact, confirm the deal through sms or phone call. And then, on the actual day of deal, confirm again the price and time/venue to meet before leaving house.

people have the right to sell to whomever they want. did they enter into a contract with you? if not, you have nothing on whoever it is.

it is not ebay, live with it.
Do we alway need a "legal" contract to tell us how to behave like a human being? what will becoming of this B&S sections if every seller/buyer don't honour what he/she stated in the thread? hey, there is this thing call "trust" in each and every one of us that make us diff. from the animal in the jungle.. yes.. we can't do anything about it .. but least we can altogether condemn such an act... and let the person know that most of us here don't concur to such an act.

when you take a bus or train...you have already entered into a contract...so there is nothing wrong with above statement made earlier...

Ah, thank you my friend. Hopefully i get to meet the better sellers here in CS!

Oh, but it wasn't sold at the BNP price.

This kinda dealing really screws up everything. Like the feeling when we can finally get our hands on something, then it just disappears. Why can't everyone be sincere and firm!

Buy a NEW lah... save yourself the hassle and dissapointments....

Hahaha, student on budget cannot afford new ones! Very keen in photography but finances stopping me. Heh.

it's OK. Start slowly. That was what I did years back. Look into the B&S Section and you will definitely find another bargain.

Cheers...

u cannot blame them for not honouring their words or stoop low to get a higher price than wat was already agreed. Integrity is just not part of them. Live with it...because there are still alot of them out there that will cross your path somehow.

All the best to u finding an even better deal.

this practice is not just happening here, it's out there too....

my boss (who is quite loaded) wanted to buy a property few months back and saw one in the classified ad. He instructed his agent to approach the seller's agent and offered a price at 85% of the seller asking price. The offer was rejected and my boss reverted with another higher offer and again was rejected. Finally, the price was agreed at 95% of the original asking price and letter of intent signed. The 10% deposit (cheque payable to the seller) has been given to the lawyer and pending clearance after the signing of S&P.

While the S&P is being drafted and reviewed, another buyer jumped in with an offer of 110% of the original asking price. The seller agent informed the buyer that the property is sold and pending S&P. That buyer knew that S&P not signed mean property not sold, he counter offer 120% of the priginal asking price.

Ended up, the seller withdraw his property from selling, including to my boss, coz he suddenly realised his property is in such demand.

Last week, my boss'a agent just told him that the same property is now on sale again, at 180% of the previous asking price.

Oh, but it wasn't sold at the BNP price.

i see, then certainly in that case, the seller is not honouring his words.

well, life goes on.....luckily majority of the traders in BNS are still honourable...at least from my own experience of buying/selling of not less than 10 transactions over last 2 years.
