HK is cheaper but spoke to authorized Sony seller they said they can convert the warranty to international warranty but now only 6 months :-( still good I think but you lose 6months of warranty.

U still get 6 months leh. Better than none.

Just curious, in that case why is the 24mm so much more ex than the 35mm?

Currently I own the kit lens, 50mm and 24mm CZ for my Nex 7. I probably have no reason to get the 35mm.

It is more expensive because of the Zeiss name and the lens has a metal mount & body.
You are correct, you may not need the 35mm, I suggest you buy the 55-210mm instead to complete your collection.

Based on SG srp its just 100sgd cheaper... Don't know if this 6months thingy is new Sony policy or not.

Only 100? Might as well get it locally n get additional 6 months warranty. Haha

Or perhaps it's additional 9 months. Sony has that 12+3 months warranty scheme if you register a product online.

Yeah true unless they can convert it to 12months 100sgd is not worth it.

Check wif them first. HK set dunno got extended warranty even if register online?

Hi rakurai, try to sell the 24mm then you can use the fund to buy the 35mm and the 10-18mm.

As i see it there are several advantages of the 35mm compared to the 24mm -
-it's smaller
-it has OSS
-sharper
-it has a smoother bokeh because of the near circle aperture
-it focuses faster
-long enough for portrait (for my taste at least)

Thanks for the suggestion bro!
I did think to do exactly like that :)
Either I get the wide angle or the 55-210mm+raynox for some macro experiment. Hmm..

HK most shops has stock and price is reasonable just that I dont think you can register online in SG for additional 3 month wrty.

Wow... How much is HK best price and when you flying back? Very tempted to get one...

Haha... Just joking. Better get from local store so easier to sell later on....

When wide open, the sigma is better, in which aspect? Sharpness? If so, I would really be surprised since under the same conditions, the sigma would be shot at a slower speed and without oss. Unless the oss in the 35 wasn't take clever and oss-ed in the wrong direction...

Apologies, I was typing too fast. I meant the Sigma f2.8 was sharper, with more detail on a NEX 7. To add another perspective to show how amazing that $250 Sigma is, my friend tried a copy of it on his OMD vs a Pana Leica 25mm 1.4, and the Sigma fought it pound for pound at all equivalent apertures.

Anyway, concerning the SEL35 - CA is pretty noticeable wide open, especially shooting chrome objects (or similar highlight areas), I find that this happens in JPG mode too. So take it for what it’s worth. I’m no stranger to CA, have been using mainly f1.4-1.8 primes on Full Frame, and in my opinion the 35mm’s CA is not too well controlled.

My other beef with the lens is the inconsistent focusing at closer ranges. I’m not too sure how much this copy-to-copy variation, so I would appreciate if other owners chimp in.

Street price at Kawloon Mongkok area is 3400hkd these are from those well know shops here that would do tourist warranty conversion from the shop for you so won't go to sony sc. I'm flying tomorrow late afternoon to SG. Let me know but most likely ill have to use CC as my pocket cash is running low now hehe.
