[Seadog] Enjoying Nature

I hope it is not scolding you :bsmilie:

Nice captures Gan! The KF very nice.

Hello Seadog!

I was planned to go to GBTB yesterday morning after seeing your birdie beauties.
Overslept. Missed the first train. I planned to start with sunrise before walking around hopefully to catch some birdies in action.

Just to check with you. Those birds you have taken (esp those in GBTB), may I know which month(s) of the year?
If you have made multiple trips, can I assume the same birds you have taken before no longer there?

I have hiked around the same area in Yishun for consecutively 4 mornings. Started off at the same time because I wanted to take sunrise first. Whether it was the same tree or bush, I did not see the same birds or any at all that I had taken the day earlier.

Including yesterday morning, after 3 days of absence because I needed to go to work, the varieties getting smaller. As like you mentioned. Just 2. A heron and a magpie.

Thank You
EisMann

Thank you for your kind words EisMann!

The birding shots at GBTB are taken from October till now. The photos are posted usually on the week right after the shots are taken, so that kind of shows what I manage to see during my visits over these four months. So far, the kingfishers, woodpeckers, munias, sunbirds etc seems to be always present. For some birds like the paradise flycatcher and fantail, I have not seen them since I last posted the photos. But I do find that as long as I keep visiting, there is always a chance of encountering new subjects like the barbets. And even if there is nothing to shoot, it is still a nice place for a morning walk :)

nice catch of the Sunbird just taking-off

Thanks v0857!

Thanks madmartian! Actually it was an uplanned shot. I was shooting the sunbird preening his feathers and he was startled by my shutter burst. So it is more likely for the sunbird to be scolding me rather than the yawning kingfisher ;p

Nice captures Gan! The KF very nice.

Thanks Fable!

Thanks for the reply, SeaDog.
So my experience in the same place consecutively mornings not seeing the same bird is not alone.

Perhaps the keyword is new encounters for multiple visits.

Will try again this Sat morning.
1st half, feather birds, 2nd half metal birds in Changi......

Thank You
EisMann

Great shots Seadog! I went to GBTB and was not able to capture the WTKF... it flew as I approached a few times... Have to remember not to bring my son next time.

I saw a WTKF flying around the pond with dragon flies display :P
Did you shoot it there Gan?

Shot it at the small bridge between Water Lily Pond and Kingfisher Lake. But I have seen it at different parts of the garden so could be the same bird.

Coppersmith is very outstanding!

Another visit to Gardens by the Bay. Starting off with sunbirds.
