Nice Danny~
Love the moment u captured. Great shot

I never really notice on the people walking around at Orchard. I think I miss out the most interesting part from your eyes.

i like #5... that cute little girl expression is cute...

hey danny, i don't really look under the street photog section but your pics are simply too great! what makes them unique is the composition within the picture.

i have a qn, is 70-200 f4 IS lens good for street photography in letsay orchard road? im not very comfortable with taking pictures too close up, and prefer shooting from a distance away. if yes, whats the best way to shoot with this lens?

INSPIRING! Really makes me wonders if my Lx3 can do these effects or not

Thanks, man :) Regarding your lens question, I think any lens will do when shooting in the streets, but I myself would not be very comfortable shooting with a big lens like a 70-200. For me, as a rule of thumb, any body/lens that you can hold with one hand would be discrete enough for shooting street. But I'm not saying a 70-200 will not do a good job, it will still depend on the moment captured and the composition.

Thanks! :) I'm not sure about the capabilities of the LX3, but from what I gather, it has pretty good image quality. I would suggest experimenting with the settings with aperture, metering modes, EV, etc... plus, experiment with different kinds of light in the streets. Moreover, LX3 is a pretty compact camera so that will afford you to be more discrete and get closer to the subjects :)

Lately, I decided to take headshots of characters I see in the streets while I'm out shooting. Unlike all my other shots in the thread, these shots were taken with their permission.

James sings and plays guitar on the streets, improvising his lyrics for each passerby. He's lived in Singapore his whole live, and has a boy who's about to turn 10 this coming January 31. He's a wild man, but a very nice one at that.

Brad is a retiree from Australia. He's an artist and showed me one of his pens which he uses for dot painting. He loves the Philippines and have been there many times. A very pleasant man that comes with a pleasant scent and a pleasant smile.

When I told him I had to go and attend mass, he said "That's good. Go to church... and search for God." I smiled and said "I will."

I almost always see him in Orchard Road every time I shoot street. Whenever I pass by him, I always give $2 as a sign of gratitude for being my first good street shot that I got last July 2008... the shot when I realized "I can do this..."

Another character I almost always see whenever I shoot street. He's a trumpet player playing soulful tunes along the road. The marks you see on his lips are from the trumpet's mouthpiece. I've always wanted to take a portrait of him ever since I started to shoot on the streets, but never had the guts to do so.

When I asked him if I could take his portrait, he nodded and said "Thank you for asking." I thought "No... thank YOU."

Thanks, man. I use Lightroom and sometimes Photoshop for post processing.

Thanks, man! It takes a little getting used to, but it's still not easy :) About the marks of the girl, I sort of like it like that... i think it gives her face more character, and also shows she's cute even with the marks :)

Awesome portraits...damn it

Big thanks, man :)
