Lately, I decided to take headshots of characters I see in the streets while I'm out shooting. Unlike all my other shots in the thread, these shots were taken with their permission.
James sings and plays guitar on the streets, improvising his lyrics for each passerby. He's lived in Singapore his whole live, and has a boy who's about to turn 10 this coming January 31. He's a wild man, but a very nice one at that.
Brad is a retiree from Australia. He's an artist and showed me one of his pens which he uses for dot painting. He loves the Philippines and have been there many times. A very pleasant man that comes with a pleasant scent and a pleasant smile.
When I told him I had to go and attend mass, he said "That's good. Go to church... and search for God." I smiled and said "I will."
I almost always see him in Orchard Road every time I shoot street. Whenever I pass by him, I always give $2 as a sign of gratitude for being my first good street shot that I got last July 2008... the shot when I realized "I can do this..."
Another character I almost always see whenever I shoot street. He's a trumpet player playing soulful tunes along the road. The marks you see on his lips are from the trumpet's mouthpiece. I've always wanted to take a portrait of him ever since I started to shoot on the streets, but never had the guts to do so.
When I asked him if I could take his portrait, he nodded and said "Thank you for asking." I thought "No... thank YOU."
