scenes from orchard road

@daredevil: Thanks, bro! :)
@wwooaahh: i actually squat down to have my camera at waist level... otherwise it would be almost impossible to get the framing and focus right with an 85mm :)

I love the composition.

Thank you so much for all your comments! I'd like to share with you guys my new photography website. After a little over a year of shooting street in Orchard Road, I'm finally able to put up a website that shows all my stuff, categorized by album. Please do check it out. I'll be updating this regularly. Thanks!

Very nice pics Santos. Thanks for sharing. Hey what lenses do you use? Anyone ever stopped you?

Thanks, bro... I mostly use an 85mm f1.4. Sometimes, I also use a 20mm f2.8 for wide angle shots. Fortunately, so far, no one has ever stopped me or confronted me for taking these shots.

:)

Hi Danny,

I've found your Flickr around 2 months ago and I just curious to take candid street photos. I even went to Orchard Rd. to get the atmosphere like yours. Since then I just addicted to it, it's just so interesting to capture strangers on the streets.. :D

I use 55-250mm f/4-5.6 lens for that, but like you said I think it's better using a prime lens. I've 50mm f/1.8 also but I think it's to short for me. I just don't have the courage yet to shot strangers from such a short distance. So I think a 100mm f/2.8 Macro would be nice for me. What do you think with this lens? Btw, I use Canon EOS 450D body.

Thanks... :D

PS.:

I think the 100mm focal length is good for a start. Just keep shooting and experimenting on different focal lengths until you develop your own style and realize which focal length you are most comfortable with. Eventually, you'll be able to street shoot at any focal lengths, from 200mm, to 85mm, to 50mm, to 20mm :)

I just saw your street shots... you're off to a good start. Just keep on searching for inspiration on books or online, and keep on shooting to develop your style... you'll kick-ass in shooting street in no time :)
