wow very nice pictures... the colours... do u go to orchard every weekend? would love to learn things from u man... im new..

Why would you need a Tripod? Just stand there and wait.
Keep your camera low and only raise it when necessary. Know how the frame and picture before you even raise the camera.

You can either avoid eye-contact afterwards and stare into blank space, or say hi to them.

I basically look for a good location with good light, then stand and look around in all directions for any potential subjects. Then when I see a good subject, I wait for the right moment until they are near enough and at the right light, then i raise my cam and click. :)

the problem with street photography is sometimes people (your subject) tend to avoid you if your cam is pointing at them :bsmilie: on worst cases, some will give you a "killer" stare or even get mad and will demand you delete the photos. having a cam mounted on a tripod, either with remote or shutter release cable, will somehow help capture unsuspecting subject. we'll that's just my thought :D

That's one way of doing it... but you won't have full control of the composition and timing, plus sometimes, the reaction of the subject is pretty much what's worth capturing - it may be just looking curiously at the camera, or a surprised look, or even a nasty stare.. it's still worth capturing. I've been doing this for a year now, and lately i've even been getting real close to the subjects, and I never had anyone complain (so far, lucky for me). Also, one way to capture the subject without them avoiding the camera is to wait until the right moment to raise the camera and quickly compose, focus, and click. It's not easy.. it's an adrenaline rush.. but when you get a good shot, it feels great :)

Thanks bro :) Hehehe yes I was in Lucky Plaza this afternoon, and I think I did saw someone who was just doing that. So it was you, huh? :)

Another very close encounter. Right after I took this shot, she had this very startled look towards me... my heart raced as I slowly stepped aside while she walked past me.

No cropping involved, taken with an 85mm.

btw what lens do you usually use for the street stuff? the bokeh on these pictures is really soft and exactly right for these shots haha

I'm using an 85mm f1.4 for these street shots... the bokeh is indeed pretty sweet, even at f2.8 (which i use more often for increased sharpness).

Thanks, bro... I'm using a D300. For PP, it's just the usual enhancement of sharpness, contrast, and adding vignettes. I didn't know it has a film-like look.. maybe it's just the available light :)

if someone points a camera at me i will give them a killer smile! haha
