Did you PP the photos, like adjusting the levels? I usually can't get pure black without adjusting the levels with photoshop.. your shots have good contrast and nice blacks. curious how to get that right off the camera.

there's definitely pp involved here to darken the background and isolate the subjects.. however, you also have to make sure that the shot right off camera makes is easy for you to do this... what i did here was to look for a concentrated source of light, and when the subject walks right in it, shoot plus have your cam in spot metering mode, at EV -1 or -2
