but it's a nice flash for beginner. ..

You mean for beginner ?

I thought SB400 is for beginner, SB700 is for amateur photography.

Not really, anyone who wants a small and light flash can use the SB400. I sold mine to a guy who has a D2H and a D700. He wanted it for its size.

still no news when it is available....

cool to have the hard gels, at least the gel wont melt that much after loooong use.. sb900 still rocks! but sb700 sounds great!

SB700 has a lower guide no. Is it a better buy vs sb600 considering its other features?

SB600 - Guide number (at 35mm zoom-head position):
30/98 (ISO 100, m/ft), 42/138 (ISO 200, m/ft)

SB700 - Guide number (35 mm zoom head position, FX format, Standard illumination pattern)
28/92 (ISO 100, m/ft.), 39/128 (ISO 200, m/ft.)

Any news when it'll be out? Eagerly waiting.

I was thinking of buying this flash also. I looked at the specs and the GN is only 92 versus 98 for the sb 600. Also I read that it is not supported by all the Nikon film cameras. All this for over $ 100 more than the sb 600.

any idea how much is SB 600 now ? is the price dropping because of this SB 700?

any news? it is already available in amazon

Should make pre-order in Singapore though ...

Seemed like the professionals would prefer SB900 over SB700 not for the new features but many other concerns.

One of which is the strength.

I'm just wondering if it's worth getting an SB700 over SB900 in anyway? SB700 is superior in terms of control over SB600 but then it's weaker.

Having an SB700 is like having a weaker SB600 but with a control closer to SB900, and improvement on some other factors such as colour gel?

Last but not least, what's your preference if budget is not taken into consideration? SB700 or SB900?

Is the SB700 out in stores already?

If budget was not taken into consideration and I didn't have SB900 before, I would go to SB900. SB900 is still the best Nikon speedlight at this moment.

If I had SB900, I would seriously consider SB700 as additional flash. SB700 body is small, easier to control than SB600, and such a big power is not required for a fill flash.

I think every people have their own reason, why they choose SB700 or SB900.

Hi Jeff, thanks for your insights :)

I'm curious on SB700 comparing to SB600. Also I wonder why I've been encouraged to buy SB900 even though the pricing is way higher than the former 2, not mentioning the weight.

SB-900 is only S$650 thereabouts with G now. Just got one on Sunday.
The last SB-600 I got was after the price increase, think that time was $370. This SB-700 might be over $400.

hi would u mind if u pm me the place where u got ur sb900?
