Save me from the BBB bug !

Carpe Diem! ;)

Oh, and as for your other option of rental, well for me personally I wouldn't do that. For $38 per day, you might as well get that $680 25/1.4.
You could always play with that for a month, and still be able to sell it for >$650.

heh, and I realized none of us is saving you from the BBB bug.

Oh! Thank you so much! I swear I was searching for a cheap 25/1.4 but only found them around 100bucks cheaper than new.

I'd probably hang on to my 12mm until I'm sure that I won't miss it anymore.

I'm gonna try to persuade my hubby to get the $680 one!

I think everyone agrees that the 25/1.4 is a great lens! I've been looking at lots of photos taken with it! It has a certain something to it that stands out. I can't really put my finger to it.

7mm, 25mm, 14-42mm & 12-50mm kit lens, tried the 45mm and 20mm. Each has its own unique factor.
In the end there is only 1 lens going to be on your camera at one time. Look for your favorite focal length and enjoy!

Looking at your situation, you could sell the EP3 with the 14-42mm kit lens and top up a bit for the 25mm. Keep the long tele which you will find it useful later.

If you got friends going Japan, HK or US, can buy the 25mm there. S$6xx for brand new.[/QUOTE]

I'm selling the EP3 and 14-42 to ease the pain of the omd. So I can't use it to offset the lens already. I too do not intend to sell the long tele. I love it in the zoo! I intend to bring them to visit Jia Jia and kai kai!

I have an uncle in HK! I'm going to ask him now! Although I tried searching on HK online photo sites, and the price isn't cheaper.

HongKong need to walk in for good pricing. My friend got the 25mm there last week at < S$650 with conversion if i remembered correctly.
Even US bhphoto is selling USD499. HK shop pricing follows US / Japan pricing quite close. The downside is the warranty which you might need to send back HK or Panny SG charges a token to service it.

awesome ! now I'm trying to plan a trip to HK with the kids ! how crazy !

Are you not considering 17mm f1.8? I have a 14 month old boy and most of my photography is abt him. I'm now torn between 17 1.8 and 25 1.4

Use ur own savings to buy? What can husband say if the pictures come out woah?

The reason why I'm not considering the 17mm f1.8 is because I already have the 12mm f2.i feel that the two of them are too similar? If I didnot have my 12mm I'll probably just get the 17mm and be done with it.

I also looking to purchase the 25mF1.4 for my next len but wallet hurting after Black Friday. Just brought the Rokino 7.5FE at cheap deal.

IMO 12mm f2 and 50mm f1.4 will be best combination for family with kids. Use 12mm when you are outdoor /travel/ taking group photo and even wide portrait or indoor. 50mm can use on all occasion, it can focus close to the subject for portrait or to take street shots. IMO 45, 75mm is more for taking proper posing shots where you have the time to frame the subject. however experience user may have no problem for that. You buy 50mm at that price, few month later lens only depreciate $100 or so like what you see for yourself in b&s. Take care of your lens and it will have resale value.

it's just another photo lor

exactly. actually he could tell a different between our old PnS and the dslr. Then after that to him they all look the same? I tried to show him a sample photo from a 12/2 and 25/1.4 to show him the difference.
Anyway we only have 1 joint account, so it isn't about whether i use my own money or not. it's our money, not his or mine.
Also, he has agreed to let me buy the $680 one tonight ! He wanted to surprise me by buying from the airport but they didn't have it.

I will like to consult you guys on what is your 'process' when you change your lens outside. We are going to Taiwan on Monday and I'm eager to take my new 25mm out, but I also intend to either bring my 12mm or the telephoto lens along. I've always been reluctant to change lenses on the fly because I'm afraid that dust will get inside the sensor or what not. So I try to minimize lens changing. How do you guys get around this?

Have a spare lens cap ready? I feel that my camera bag is only big enough for the camera and one lens. Any preferred bags for M4/3 cameras. Those 'designer' ones like the free cooper bag don't have space inside to bring lenses around. Most camera bags are targeted at DSLRs and I obviously changed to M4/3 to minimize the bulk.

Just change slowly is what I do, the anti dust from Olymous works effectively, I never worried or saw dust, I change as fast as I can now because I'm using D3,no anti dust, so big worry, you'll be fine

Wow, nice husband you have!
Lens change...same as dslr. find a non windy place if possible, face camera down (you should try memorize where the red dot on camera is), release rear lens cap from the lens you want to change to and keep aside, spot the red dot on lens so that you can mount it quick, press lens release button, release lens from body & switch. Mount rear caps back to lens. Your master hand should be the one holding the lens to change into.
Olympus cameras has by far the best anti-dust removal in other systems I have/had. But good practices should always be followed. In my 5 years, only once I had dust issues. I had dust issues in months of using other brands...
Congrats on your new toy. Have fun and post pictures when back:)

The main reason for getting mirrorless is the capability to change lens for different usage purpose. You go all the way abroad and you would want best picture. To me changing of lens is unavoidable in order not to compromise quality of photo. Face the camera downward In enclose area and dust entering Will be minimal.

when you do the switch, wouldn't one lens be exposed for a short while and the sensor left open? okay maybe i'm too paranoid...

I am going to TW on Monday also, haha, enjoy!!
