vrboska is a small town that is usually a daytrip location but we "nua" here for 2 days. despite of that, the hot weather kept us from going out, and we spend some time rather in the house or the nearby forested path. but i would say this place deserved more exploration given a better weather. there is nice buildings and nice reflection, though i didn't get the effect i wanted from one of the pictures i saw (i wonder if that picture is taken from a boat becos i can't find the vantage point when i walk and look about)

hi zoossh.. great photos every one of them.. but i like this a lot.. it's so clear and almost impossible.. ! actually i wanted to join you when i saw your invitation to join u when you were planning but i still cant leave singapore yet.. so perhaps the next time..

Zoossh, you are getting better! You're carefully selecting & posting your pics so slowly that I'm complaining :)

May i know if any filter was used for pic #20 or processed? It is beautiful.

#19 is lovely.

actually, i've been slow due to work commitment plus i find that my current series is not too well pieced together. in a way, i do not travel with an active intention of seeking photos that linked in a series. that will require active search for subjects and meanings that are consistent in a few factors and differs in a few factors, which some people who are more focused do. so, now i'm selected one picture at a time, process, post, wait for criticisms. i tend to prefer to space out my still life, portrait, scenaries, but i find that i cannot find matching palette between pictures, somehow.

there is better handling of indoor low light on D90, but compared to D50, i have greater discrepancy of my picture in adobe photoshop versus the output. i also have increased color banding problem on D90. i may need to go back and rework on some of them. i find the colors of #21 unnatural, but it is always a bit sian to return to the same work...

#20 have a 2 stop GND, grad part cover the sun too.

and thanks dino and billy.

Mr. Tomo, is a fisherman, who lives near the fishing museum at vrboska. too
bad the museum is closed and locked when we visit. he however gestured us
to visit his little workshop. we dunno what he says, but we know he has a lot
of fishing nets... and he is really proud of being photographed... to be
continued....

this is the road that leads from the pigeon square (turkish quarter) of sarajevo
to our hostel Ljubicica, about 100-200m away. an unknown yellow building built
in austrian style is just next to the turkish quarter, facing our hostel across the
road on the left. accom costs for dormitory is about 10-15euro per day, but we
got 5 of us and the landlady gave us the whole room for that 2 nites.

Thanks for the detailed reply as usual. I would really love to join your trip in future.

There's something special about the colours of your pictures, I can never get such rich colours in EU or maybe I was not paying attention in taking pics :sweatsm:

really exortic place to visit ...

Your series are really like those Drama Series...we have to wait for the next episode week after weeks.

I am thinking that I am not going to look at your thread until 6 months later on...but then...season 2 might come out and I have to wait again.

I think you have been too heavily influenced by Korean's Drama series.

P.S. can i find a pirated completed season somewhere ?

i didn't research on mostar. and hence this is an unknown to me but probably
famous mosque next to mostar bridge. choose a dark approach cos have no
tripod (decided to take it easy on the last limb). poor image quality from high
ISO usage.

i dun really go after their drama, some... but not really after them. maybe you check once a month, that would be good. i just find it a pity that a lot of excellent amateur photographers are also busy with work and do not really post their pics (ppl whom i met or saw their pics on print). nonetheless great pics such as the recent thread on santorini just blew me off. recently saw some printed photographs on an exhibit, just jaw drop and almost fall in love with the photographer without knowing who she was (oh well, that could be a man too, who knows... nowadays all the new english names are so alien to me).... but she is so good that after self learning, she went pro overseas as a photojournalist

click on 2nd pic. that's hers... the print even look more fabulous...
can also check on her website http://www.eyeofzann.com/

Thanks for sharing Zann's website - she has amazing photos, many of which tell stories that we probably don't know. What an impact her photos had on me.

And I love so many of your photos in this thread - the colors, the composition, the scenes and the light captured, it's just fantastic. I'd definitely be checking back from time to time! Thank you for sharing :)

perspective corrected crop, dubrovnik city fort wall guarding post. think it is stupid of them to limit the closing
time at 7pm when the sun will set at 730-830pm...

transformation of a snapshot of dubrovnik city (old town) taken from the fort wall

_DSC1206offo.jpg

inspired by shiang han, i did some photomanipulation and converted one of my snapshot and make a christmas
tree out of it. em... dun worry, just experimental, so just one - you can hate it.

Hi Zoossh, quite honoured that you viewed my thread, I've always found yours to be very very good! This Sarajevo thread was no exception, and most of your pictures here leave me with my mouth stuck in the "wow" position.

For this particular photo though, I don't think that the edges are defined clearly enough, maybe a bit more edge brightness? Was it raining and a night shot?

And if you want to control the brightness and thickness, you can use multiple layers of the image with different settings of the glowing edges filter and layer mask them to suit your taste. (Of course that's only if you are inclined to experiment more.) :)

emmm... i think this filter you introduce me makes everything "nite" so that the colors will contrast against it. the rain is added from another filter that i forget what is that and the bird in flight is just one - but i clone it and changed their positions.

couldn't grasp the balance of the colors without damaging the feel of the old town. the colors and the black also looks horrible on the web browsers and slightly better on safari. as for the thickness, will take that into consideration, but probably won't go back now, if not i will even be slower with new pieces. yah, maybe next time will take note of your pointers.

Kovači matyrs' muslim cemetry of sarajevo, izgradimo memorijal zajedno. the monument is called Ottoman Turbe,
or a dome-like tombstone, holding the body of former bosnian president, aliija izetbegovic. his role as a muslim in
between the east and west, makes many of his actions a controversy, or at times, a victim of propanganda.

this cemetry contained mostly the war deads of the inter-racial war in bosnia and herzegovina during the siege of
sarajevo from 1992-1996, killing nearly 10,000 people and wounded up to 56,000 as some source quoted. what is
the rights of the bosniaks or the rights of the bosnian serbs is a complicated issue to talk about. nonetheless this
picture is dedicated to the civilians and the defending soldiers against ultranationalism that denies the birth rights
of the various communities to their motherland, and against terrorism that seeks to isolate these communities of
choices and who attacks anyone who advocate and offer that option.

as can be seen, the lighting becomes harsh as it sets into the early mid morning and technically this is partly near
clipping and probably small areas are being totally clipped. the shadows is better than the early morning and brings
out the form and texture though. sharpness wise is never my forte - something i'm extremely aware of and knew
that is one of the basic that i never grasp and practice well - another is the use of basic flash.
