Is this considered sharp or it can be better?

Am trying to find out if its the max the lens can do or its me that need to brush up skills..

I have a strange feeling toward 35mm f1.8. Although 35mm is wider, 50mm f1.8 produce better bokeh effect. Some how still love 50mm.

Read this review for 35mm f1.8 (in chinese language).

It said that Sony 35mm produce the best shot at apperture f4 instead....

I think that's pretty much what you can expect from a lower cost prime at F2. It performs similiar to its counterpart from Nikon. Looking at that review shooting from F2.8 onwards seems to sharpen things up nicely. You might want to reshoot and try for yourself.

Not sure about corner performance however, but so far I like the lens.

Mind going into a bit of details on the differences between the 2 lens? I'm thinking whether I should get the 50mm f1.8 or not...

although i have not yet tried the 35mm, i must say the 50mm is really sharp. bokeh is superb... price wise no need say liao.. im still waiting to see a detailled review on 35mm VS 50mm.. den i decide if i should sell my 50mm for the 35mm.

I have both 50mm and 35mm, I have to say that I still prefer 50mm although at 75mm the view is really narrow.

Was recommended by someone that this is a good lens. Anywhere in sg still have stock???

hmm.. true.. maybe better to get a 28/f2.8 or similar range from minolta if i want a wider prime..

Seems like fresh supplies have arrived ! ...I've just collected mine from MS color earlier and saw several still in stock.

...time for some fun later today !

yes bro 50mm will produce better bokeh becoz of two factor it has f1.8 (like 35mm f1.8) but longer focal lenght so technically 50mm f1.8 will produce better bokeh than 35mm. Same goes if you compare 50mm f1.8 and 85mm f1.4 (even you set it to f1.8) 85mm will produece better blurring than 50mm but narrower field of view :)

For wider lens to produce bokeh you need to have fster aperture and your subject distance relative to background :)

So f you notice those longer focal lenght lens produces nicer reamy bokeh than wider/shorter lfocal lengths

cool.. learn something new.. so the CZ135/f1.8 is for bokeh lovers.. haha.

No bad, ...but bokeh wise, the SAL135mm F2.8 STF is lagi better !!! :bsmilie: ...only thing is you sacrifice AF.

If need F2.8 or above to be sharp, then wouldnt the 30mmf2.8 marco be a better buy if that lens can be sharp at F2.8? The 30mmf2.8 is one of the 5 lens in the pwp.

Yes, but the AF is going to be very slow and in very low light situation, the f1.8 is going to be useful.

Lets say I have a these 2 lenses on the APS-C

24mm f2.8
35-70mm f4 mini-beercan

there isn't really any 'place' for the 35mm f1.8 right? unless i print cash lol
