Nothing to do with SSS good or no good ! ...for those evaluation shots, should try shooting at 1/30s and above for static subjects and at least 1/125s for moving subjects.
That was what I was taught in the days before SSS, IS, VR, etc :bsmilie:

For me, IS doesn't mean I can now shoot 2 -3 stops lower with 100% certainty, it means when I shoot at these lower setting, I'll have a slightly higher chances of getting a 'Good picture' ...maybe 50%-60%.

Many pple under estimate the effects of camera shake, I had a really good laugh when I read those posts stating that with IS, they no longer require tripods, if you shoot extensively at the long end of 300mm and above, you'll quickly realise that IS is not the cure all for hand held photography.

ps: ...if you mount the camera on a tripod, SWITCH OFF the IS ...on a tripod, IS could possibly cause motion blur especially with long exposure shots.

Just sharing some of my pics using the 35mm f1.8. The images are really sharp and reproduce nice colours. Loving it.

The BBB virus is calling. Must resist but weakening

these are definitely PP-ed right? any sharpening done?

Nope no PP done. I apparently orange light enhances the colours naturally. Furthermore I increased the contrast and sharpness in my A300 itself. :D

wat's the best usage for this kind of lens?
as per a bro mentioned, for indoor portrait?

is gd for macro with tele-converter?

This is good for general walkabouts and wide portraits. Personally it will be a good lens to carry out if you want a light bag and it should be able to cover most of your needs.

If you are looking for macro, go for the 30mm f2.8 macro instead. Its cheaper than this.

Anyway, 30mm isn't really a good range for macro.. its too close. A good macro focal length would be 90mm and above.

And tele-converter won't make it a macro lens. You'll need either an extension tube or those closeup filters.

90mm focal length & above, out of my budget atm :(

I am look more of a portraits lens.. so i guess 35/28 or 50/28 will fit my purpose.
for portraits... longer focal length is better, or shorter?

Extension tube & closeup filter, to be use on prime lens?
i go read up abit.

TQ.

Yep thats a macro lens allowing you 1:1 mag.

Well, as the chinese saying goes "一分钱一分货", quality comes at a price.

it depends on what type of style and feeling you are going after. the perspective will be different at different focal lengths. But if you are looking for subject isolation, a general rule of thumb is that longer focal lengths and larger apertures will give you better isolation.

tubes and filters can be used on any type of lenses.

no problem.

there's tonnes of things to read up on photography.. haha I find that there's always something to read about and learn everyday.

i read from magazine, can get a white background card, to create the isolation.
well that's only apply to Plant. LOL

ok... let me go decide on SAL 35/28 or 50/28 first. lol
In your opinion, if i wanna use it to double up for macro, which is better? 50?

try calling ms color.
i think they got it frm there.

what are you trying to compare? the 35mm has a shorter focal length than 40mm, larger aperture at 1.8 vs 2. also if im not wrong Voigtlander is a manual focus lens too.
