Safe to buy from SLR Revolution???

for me, its simple, if you dun feel comfortable, then do not buy from them and buy from other shops.

if you think price matters when it comes with agent warranty but cards are in loose form and its kingston then its probably one of the place to go.

Let me share how i buy things....i find out price, i know who is cheapest and i know what i really want. then i walk in and purchase. no shop loyalty or whatever.

SLRR, DD and TK are the 3 shops i go to now. they are almost the cheapest all the time. who in CS bought a LX5 and the kingston came in loose package? i think many of us did. I am sure i did. what matters most is when i get warranty, its from agent. when its a grey set, i know i almost will not use the warranty from agent coz the product is so proven or the savings is so substantial that going back to agent within 12 months will still promise me a savings.

point is dun let a bloody card worry you. do your research and buy based on what is beneficial to you. go out and shoot and stop worrying :)

Thanks. It is not a matter of over worrying the authenticity of the card.

Here, the point is also on the integrity of the said retailer.

And the question is why they come in loose pack because kingston certainly never sell them in loose form. SLR said they will redeem from canon, but canon gave them in full packaging yet we received in loose forms??

Indeed SLR R has one of the best price around ...but only if what you get is genuine and not of "sub par" quality.

Supplier do provide cards in loose pack, not necessarily all in retail packaging.

I bought a DSLR from SLR-R, got a Kingston card in a "loose" package (which did not concern me as I wanted to use it to test the camera anyway).

I later bought a digital P&S from Funan (purchase-with-purchase), that also came with the same type of card in the same type of packaging, and they were selling many of them.

So sealed retail packaging may not be the only indicator of "new"-ness.

And one of the posters got it right ... many of us will upgrade quite soon anyway, as the "free" cards are usually lower capacity and speed.

Have purchased quite a few items from them, and haven't had a problem. Personally, find that their prices are one of the most competitive around. At times, I don't feel like I need to get a quote from the regular shops and go straight to them because I know that they will quote a price that will be the lowest or close to lowest amongst the competition.

I bought my nex5 and vanguard slingbag from them. So far, I'm quite happy with their prices and their staff are quite friendly and helpful.

Most of the items are selling at a lower price, not everything though. They were selling the black rapid RS-7 at $120+ when everywhere else is selling at $99

SLRR cam/lens prices are usually better than CP, TK and AP.
As for the free gift such as cards, I seriously doubt SLRR will sell or issue fake ones.

ditto.

had a sick feeling in the stomach when i saw Bally folks hanging out in SLRR and vice versa.

Work and personal matters should be kept seperated bah... Although there were rumors mentioning the 2 stores are "related".

Its not a rumour, its confirmed, they belong to the same owner. Doesn't bother me though, as long as they offer me a competitive price, I will still buy from them.

But why does their standard differs so much in terms of service? and price too!

Catered to different customers I guess

Why care if SLR-R is same boss as Bally, did SLR-R cheat anyone here, any cases? If nobody dig out the truth, will anyone know it? They are so different and many of us are shocked about this fact. We had heard stories from other popular shops, how about SLR-R? I did not, so I've faith in them. If someone is a gangster, smuggle drugs and chop people, does that mean his other siblings are as bad? Since all siblings are from the same parents. I think we shall be more rational here. It's funny that for a highly recommended shop (highly not recommended by me), they chop customers for filters and condemn some camera brands. Yet many still recommend them and for genuine shops like SLR-R, people doubt them.

Whatever things I buy, even accessories like Lenspen, I check out market rate first. For my camera and lens, so far no shops can beat SLR-R in terms of price and they sell local sets, no tricks, genuine business. Service is as per normal as other popular shops, no push sales tactics, won't recommend other 'better' products, what you want, they give. They quote same price to every customers, whether you look like a noob or pro. What more can I ask for?

SD cards are so cheap now, 8gb is below $20. What for sell fake cards? I don't care what cards they give, freebie cards are always Kingston and it's my backup card. Sandisk is way better in terms of speed. I got loose package cards in various shops, not only SLR-R. If my camera and lens comes in loose packaging, then I worry.

honestly, how many people use the free cards?

I do... esp the 8GB SANDISK Ultra (30m/s) that come free with the D700 during purchase in YOG. Curious any reason why shouldn't I? :dunno:

same lor, i see 3:16 people in AP Funan all the time then what...they have their internal dealings with one another to survive. Goods from 1 shop may be moved to another within their internal agreement. We cannot question all the time, what we need to know is simple....

1) for warranty set, are you getting the best price?
2) for grey set, can you get the best price + trust their shop warranty?

For me, and thats really me ok, no flaming, i dun use kingston cards coz i very suay, it failed me many times. so when i bought my LX5 and they said.....panasonic say loose kingston pack....i wana top up to sandisk also cannot. so what can i do? their price cheaper than any shop and leaving the kingston unused i also wun feel the pain. so the hell with it lor. for me as long as the gear is genuine, i wun care about the rest coz even during lx3 time, they give 3rd party battery as package for 2nd batt and can u say they are not honest?

Haha... That why i find it puzzling when you don't it... Beside the sandisk, i also use elite pro series from Kingston too. So far so good.
