I bought mine @ Alan Photo. Cost about $580.

It came with 1GB xD, camera bag, 58mm to 55mm step down adapter and a screen protector.

Gotta bargain with the right person.

Hi, just wondering what's the step down adapter used for? Was quoted by both Alan Photo and MS Color at $580 with a 2GB xD this week. Not too sure of the price for individual "freebies" so was wondering whether to stick to this or maybe bargain for the above, for a better deal ....

The step down adapter allows user to use smaller filters though.

I haven't tried but will it affect when 28mm is used? There must be a reason when Fuji designed it with 58mm in mind :think:

Yes, it will be affected till a certain extend. At 28mm, you can't really stack filters unless you zoom till 35mm. Not sure for 58mm filters, but for my 55mm filters, I can't stack UV and CPL with step down adapter and take pictures at 28mm.

Fuji definitely calculated that with the F stop, lens size, focal length; the minumum of 58mm filter is needed so that even @ 28mm wide there will not be vignetting. Guess there is a reason for everything

Yeah. In any case, as long as the filter (size below 58mm) used is slim enough, it would be okay. But then it comes to stacking of filters, that might be a issue though. 35mm zoom would be the preferred for stacking of filters that are sized below 58mm.

Hi guys, need to check something regarding the S6500fd.

1) It seems that it has no "Noise Reduction " settings for long exposure. Is this automatically built-in to trigger "NR" when the exposure exceeds a certain no. of seconds? In my current camera, Nikon 5700, I have the option to set "NR" on or off. If NR is on, it will be triggered when shutter speed falls below 1/15 or so. So when the shutter speed is 4 seconds and NR is on and the picture is taken, the camera will take another shot with the shutter closed to determine where the hot pixels are and then the hot pixels in the original picture are eliminated with the hot pixel location information obtained in the 2nd shot.

2) It also seems to have no "infinity" setting for focus. So how you are going to set focus when taking fireworks if you're not going to use the fireworks mode? Use manual focus and focus at beyond hyperfocal distance (e.g. a distant building/object) and then use this focus for fireworks? (For my current camera, I use infinity focus setting and the camera won't have to do any focusing when taking fireworks. This reduces any focus lag.).
