I think 6MP is more than enough for A3. I know because I have printed a number of 16 inch by 20 inch prints using the humble D70 and the results are tack sharp, even at close range. And those were shot with the kit lens. I feel the result could have been even better if say a sharper lens like the 50mm 1.4 was used instead.

6 megapix is definitely enough. I've done a job that printed the output from a D70 to a wall picture about 6m on it's longest edge. viewing distance being about 1m away, no pixelation of output could be seen. Someone even commented if it was painted. :D

Quite a bit I must say. What I meant is the camera's ability to hold its resale value 2 or 3 years down the road.

It is a non-denial fact.

in terms of absolute dollar value, I would say u will lose more buying a high end body.

a D70 body bought 2-3 years ago at $1700 are selling around $500 in B&S, while a D2x bought around the same time at $7000(?) are selling around $4500 now.

simple search in B&S,

D100 sells for $1200 (advertised) usually will be lower upon bargaining by buyers. Assume the cam was sold for 1200 as indicated.

IIRC, D100 sold for $2700 when new? depreciate $1500 (44%)
I sold my D70 recently for about $800 (not in CS obviously), bought at ~$1700 new.. lost about $900 (53%) I could have lost more if I sold it in CS.
D2x example given above? buy 7K sell 4.5K -> 35% depreciation :D

between losing 53%, 44% and 35% i rather lose 53% anytime :bsmilie:

If not planning to sell, will not lose $ right? :embrass:

bcos me plan to use my d2x till it up the lorry, say nearly 10 years

Best is use till 9yr, 11mth. Then sell just before it goes up the lorry. :bsmilie:

10 years ah.. :bsmilie: your sensor still can use? oh yah.. if don't sell means lose 100% that's the worst liao.. :bsmilie:

i think whatever camera you own, just make the best out of it such that your $1700 or even $7000 would be worth paying for.

bought my s2pro for $3200, market rate now is about $500. i make $ XXXXXX with it. . . so whats my lost? what percentage i lugi ???

I know the market rate for s3pro very well cuz I was trying to sell my MINT condition s3pro 3 months back WITH warranty somemore... I am sure you cannot get $1800....

No BS; a mint condition, used S3 Pro was selling for $1800 at Camera Xchange about a month ago. It was sold within 2 days! There was what I heard from the boss.

Wind, try selling your S3 at $1600 loor. :bsmilie: *waiting eagerly*
