S2Pro Sensor spoilt

By God's grace, my 2nd hand set of the S2pro was just a short month after the expiry, and Fuji has graciously extended a goodwill repair, which is given on a case-by-case basis, and waived the sensor replacement bill, which is as Sonix mentioned is about $1630. I did not even asked for the waiver they have given to me, really nice of the management.

Furthermore, Fuji's repair was fast, I sent in on Monday, and I got the set back on Wednesday, that's 2 working days.

A good ending to my story. Hopefully no more S2pro failures for Clubsnappers, and better still, a more durable S3pro.

I have to say this, "Thank you, Fujifilm". :)

On a side note, it seems that the F80 shutter has no counter, and there is no way to check the true shutter count.

Way to go fuji.. Nice one.. :D

Just out of curiosity, does your S2's s/n starts with either 31 or 32? From other forums, it seems that these two batches of S2 are the ones with CCD problem.

I think I will have to rethink about purchasing the new S3, unless fuji can assure me that such incidents rarely occurs. And also do something about paying $1600 to replace the ccd after the warranty period.

Mine is 32 Serial no.

Yes, mine is one of the 32 series, too.

serial no 32??? the known prob with this serial no is not the ccd burn-out but other circuit got burn and could not write to your media(cf, microdrive etc..) send it to fuji. . if this is the prob, it could consider manufacturer's fault. . extended warrenty should be given. . .

mine is a 32L....my camera die on me todae... whatever i shoot all have purple and green and other stuff on my image.....damn... will be sending it in... if ther gonna charge me for it.... i'm so dead.....

dang... sorry to hear that kerpalz... time to get D2h or d2x? :P

from what i have gathered, the 32L batch is a known defect batch, and fuji has been rather accommodating in fixing them. i also understand the problem is not the CCD, but rather the CCD housing... but a royal pain nonetheless.

my other issue with the s2pro is the "CF card not initialized"!!! :mad2:

hang in there with the cam... it's still an excellent cam... though the S3 does beckon!!

i'm not into s3pro... coz i rather get a d2h or another used d1x....
but for now... i need to ask any CSer here send in ur spoil s2pro to change the CCD (warranty over). would they charge,,?

Hi yowch,
As you can see, this thread has re-appeared. It has prompted me to ask, "how is your camera now ?"

Was excellent of Fuji to do what they did for you.
I deal with Fuji here on a regular basis and they are very good.

Cheers.

My S2 CCD died recently for no reason. Send it to Fuji to repair, quoted S$ 1638.00... but finally they repaired FOC as i cheated on warrenty.

They knew about this CCd problem too.. so i am now considering not to get the S3 but D2H instead..

seems to be a very common problem with fuji ccd. nice skin tone colors but flaky ccd.

The S2 I'm using is still pretty fine, one dead pixel (I can live with that).

I suppose the 32L batch does have problems. Fuji has been really kind and has not charge anyone with regard to the SSDS (Sudden sensor Death Syndrome).

guys u all must pray for me.... i`m sending it later in the afternoon....hopefully i no need to pay for it...... if not i gonna "1206" for the company..... sure damn sianz..
