are canon's lens better/cheaper than nikons?

Are you trying to start World War 3? People will try and kill each other to prove or disprove each other with your question ;-)

Your Question is very subjective... Some feel the Canon has the edge with newer technology, some feel that nikon has better optics... Personally I know I cannot afford the top range Pro lenses... So be it either Nikon or Canon I was not overly concerned.
Although more people have picked the D60 over the D100 and S2. The other way to look at it is more people have picked the Nikon mount over the Canon mount as both the S2 and D100 are based on the same camera and use Nikon Glass...

Had I of been a Canon user with Canon glass I would have had not problems picking the D60 over all others. All three cameras are quite close in picture quality. But I had no investment and free choice... After playing with all 3 I decided on the s2 for comfort ease of use and picture quality....

The Dark Side refers to SLRs and DSLRs.

If only there's a universal mount. Sigma/Tamron/Tokina/Canon/Nikon all can be mounted. (Did I forget minolta? hehehe)

Kodak, Fuji and Olumpus are coming out with a new lens standard which will ensure lens mount compatibility. This new lens system is called the 4/3 (four thirds), and is being planned for DSLRs only. They're also trying to get more companies to join in this new standard.

But of cos we wont see any cams with this until a few years time :)

For anyone who cares, Alan Photo is selling Sigma SD9 and 15-30 lens bundle for S$4200 (with GST).

Yes, but I think it's stated that it depends on stock availability.

let's not speculate. for those interested, just call up and ask? I could also email to those who wants a copy of the equote. It expires on the 10th. You coudl also get one yourself.

Maybe it's time to update the poll...it's 10D! ;)

Any guess on how much the EOS10D will sell in Singapore? Read from DPReview that 10D reserve price is US$1,499 (~S$2,700).

Improved features, lower price.

Our D60s are worthless now!

Actually, I believe that the EOS 10D would be selling for at least S$3K.

The reason for this is because there are import taxes and other things taken into consideration.

Compare to the US prices and SG prices of a D60 will tell you that S$2700 is the closer match...
