swing123 said:Hi, just wanna ask what's the latest price for S2 IS currently?
I am torn between the 3 megazoom models at the moment:
- S2 IS
- H1
- FZ5
I think the pic quality between the 3 models made too little difference for a novice shooter like me. They all seem to fit my purpose.
I have my baby coming soon, the normal P&S of 3X zoom won;t allow me to shoot my baby from afar without him/her realising, which i think will be more natural in capturing the moment.
S2 - i have started off with Canon digicam and it's alway my favourite, i like the user-friendly easy to use software, shooting features - the plus points to continue with S2 is that i am familiar with Canon features and the AA rechargable batteries & charger as i have few of them in use for my IXUS400 ;p But the SD card for S2 IS means that i have to invest in SD cards again
H1 - use only 2 AA bateries but the review so far carry good comments on numbers of shooting allowed (around 200 plus pics with batteries fully charged). Pic quality seems to be the best among the 3. Downsize is, the pricey Memory Stick.
Fz5 - lithion battery. But i have to admit that the pricing seems to be an attraction if compare with S2 and H1.
Any other comments to add on espeically for S2? do you think it fits my purpose?

G-series are kinda reliable and better performance with better features. Yes, NO?
Just a thought.

THen the S2 came out and within 2 days of arriving in Singapore, I bought it. I love the features it has and am loving it every moment I can get to hold it.
For SD cards are as cheap as the CF cards nowadays. You can go to Eastgear or CP at Peninsula Plaza or MS at AMK or AP at SLS/Funan to check the prices.
Prior to this purchase I made a mistake and rush to buy a Sony and later regretted. Sold at a great loss but did not regret the decisio to buy the Canon.
The cam will suit your purpose as you do not need to be near the baby to capture the candid moments that your baby is bound to have.
I would say "GO FOR IT!" No regrets...
Cheers......

looks likely i am going for S2 for the AA batteries and SD card.
what's the SD card size u r using? how much would a 512MB SD card with writing speed of 60x cost?

seen the sample shots, the noise is quite bad at ISO 200 but not so for G6.
Sighhhhhh.. i'm still considering whether to buy S2 or G6.

Lmodel said:In my opinion, the price between a G6 n a DSLR is juz couple of hundred differences and I'd defintely go for the later. Therefore, I make S2 my choice of a Prosumer.

swing123 said:hi there, nice photo you had, especially the lady with sewing machine....
it seems S2 has problem with moving objects? what's the shutter speed u used?
swing123 said:nowaday, the gap between a Prosumer Digicam and Consumer dSLR is getting narrower![]()
but G6 is smaller and ligher in terms of body size and weigh when compare to dSLR, no?
Lmodel said:Anyway Fuji came out with a consumer camera with Shutter speed of 1/1600. Rather impressive for night images. Cheers
