S100 Availability

Any idea whats the latest pricing now?

While the S100 is quite a good camera, $600+ is still very ex for a premium compact considering some EVIL cameras just cost a little more than that. Was hoping that it will drop to a more reasonable $500 or belo instead. At $600, not many willing to buy, hence the shops keep little or no stock and you can hardly find any in the second hand market because of this (which is rare for Canon). I did see some online local retailer selling brand new sets at $590 but no too sure if they are trustworthy, so did not consider them. Now that Sony has launched a similar product (RX100) and with a carl zeiss lens and bigger 1" sensor, maybe the pressure would be for Canon to finally ease on the price. They do have alot of leeway as I understand the S100 sells for cheaper across the causeway.

I just got mine at $616 2 days ago. Not sure if the street price actually went up or not. Cos I recall asking SLR a few week back. They quote me $575 but they don't have it in black. Now I need to pay $616 but with 50 bucks taka voucher from canon. S100 does cos much more than my old s95 n s90. but the free premium case was not included in the previous 2 purchase.

Will be going to HK next week. Thinking of either getting the S95/S100 there.

Anyone can advise on the price? Checked the price on price.hk but don't know if its reliable.
Can original HK canon camera warranty be transferred to Singapore? Not talking about the parallel imports in HK.

And i been seeing cases of lens error in the S100, is it really a problem that will make buyers choose to buy local instead?

Thank you very much!

Dunno the price.. The hk canon warranty cannot be transferred to Singapore.. Its because of the lens error problems I heard too, that made me buy my camera in Sg. I'd rather pay extra $100 for a peace of mind ...

Or is this error just a batch error?
