S100 Availability

All my life, I have either used DSLRs or half-ar$ed compact cameras (the kind given away as prizes in contests/freebies).

The S100 is really a good substitute for my DSLR when I need to lose the weight.

Compared to the half-baked compact cameras I used previously, the S100 is really a far cry and a joy to use. The images obtained are fantastic.

Perhaps the S95 is as capable at delivering excellent pictures, but I would be unable to comment as I have never used an S95 or equivalent.

I made the jump from meh-type compacts directly to the S100 by paying US$429.99 (before 8% tax), a jaw-dropping amount by my standards. And I am glad I did.

Congrats! It may be a big jump but yes, it really is much better than 'meh-type' compacts

How about S95 - prices have gone down?

was at slr revo today and was quoted sgd 529 for s95 with sd card and tripod (he may also said with spare batt)...

s95 is going for ~ USD290 new in the US now.

Hmmm... if that is the price... I will be better off with an entry level DSLR (Canon's one)... which is selling at a cheaper price as compared to the S100.

Morley Camera House told me that it's not coming soon because of some problems, but I have not heard this from any other sources and people in US already have the camera!

there is no news yet on S100. however i believe that Canon will launch the S100 before 2012... it's long overdue and they have been trying to clear out the S95 stock...

Just came back from hong kong. They don't have any available as well. Most of the shops don't even know when it is coming. I check with best buy in san Fran, most don't have stock as well.

If its selling at $900, Canon will be shooting themselves in their foot. I would be better off with mirrorless cameras, GF3X with pancake zoom cost lesser somemore.
