Thanks emirates. A hoya close-up filter will not cost that much, <S$20 I think (The whole set cost about S$50). You could get 1 first and try it out, its quite fun using it.

Do i need to have the adapter before i can attached the Hoya close up filter.

It's just me and B & W...

Yes, you need to. See my previous post replying your question, here:http://forums.clubsnap.org/showpost.php?p=3705620&postcount=252.

Ok bro now really need to scout for the best price in town.

Nice b&W shot you have there. Are they taken with S5 or your 30D?

Tks bro, these were shot with S5 no add filter in use. Most of my macro shot was done with S5 as i find it really convenience with the flip out screen

and i don't have to crouch or prone to the ground to take close up photography. Also it a very good walkabout camera compact and light

As with 30D, it is mainly my event or wedding equipment.

Regards

Hope you were not the driver. :-)

No, for the "Whole set", I meant a set of 3 close-up filters with diopter of +1, +2 and +4. Have you got the adapter yet? Suggest you go to the "Orient photo" at Sim Lim Sq. 6th floor, Got my adapter there @$16.00 (Hope I remember correctly) (Actually it was for the S3 model, but fit quite well to my S5). I bought the Hoya close-up filters set (3 filters) from John 3:16 @ about $50.00.

cheers,

Not trying to belittle the Hoya close up filters, but they do produce slight edge softness and some chromatic aberrations. Just want to prepare people incase they buy and think that something is wrong.

Just to add, you might want to look at the Canon 250D or 500D and Nikon 4T, 5T or 6T instead of the Hoya. Or if you have the money, the Raynox DCR-250.

B&W treatment makes it look good. I like how the white stripes on the legs are blown out and 'glowing'.

Hey guys

I'm currently using Canon S80. Intending to switch to another Canon compact on 4AA batteries while retaining manual controls. A650IS comes to mind. The sensor size is 1/1.7" for the A650IS while it is 1/2.5" for the S5IS. I'm using it more for underwater (UW) pictures. I'll ask the shops myself on the availability of UW external lens, suitability of my existing strobes on UW housings. I need to find out from them which housing will not have a vignetting problem when fitted with external lens.

I'm down to A650IS & S5IS as both use 4AA. The S5IS seems to have a good following here. Like to know why some of you like this model (based on land pictures of course).

1st d S5 has a power zoom of 12x.
2nd lots of manual option
3rd Canon's natural color
4th pro feel:bsmilie:
5th hotshoe option
6th great video + excellent sound quality great 2 in1 for that price
i could go on and on................. look for a 650 user and compare the shots to be convinced
