U lower the brightness of the pic then U burnt the sky?

Err.... way off in what way? Most IR shots look quite different from normal photos. #3 was a simple B&W conversion. #4 was the same B&W with some processing, to get the dark skies.

Wanna try cropping th e pic into pano? Tight with only the 2 jets in the vertical? Just my tot...:)

Nope. I combined the normal colour picture with the B&W IR picture. My camera was on a tripod, so no movement.

If the sky is white with no blue, what kind of settings do u all guy use for outdoor ? sometimes it cant even focus well due to the fact everything is so white...pictures with white sky are not sharp and focus when i take them. I play with the aperture settings but dun really improve...i used autoWB and cloudy and the pics still dun turn out too well... any advice? :dunno:

Oic. Can post the original colour pic for comparison? Thanks.:)

Sky is white with no blue meaning overcast with lots of misty cloud? Are u shooting the sky? If not why hard to focus due to white sky?

I think it will be better to post a sample pic, then we can discuss better.:)

I just took a normal picture as a reference, did not really bother to expose right.

So you merge this pic with the BW (the first lighter one) and get the 2nd darker BW pic? How you merge har? And why by merging you get a darker pic? Can share? Thanks!;)

Ill have to go back & look at the PSD file. Think I set the colour layer to difference.

I like the curves. The rough grain of the wood shows the age of the benches. Looks good in B&W. Did you shoot B&W or process from colour?

Hi guys, im using a kenko 52mm CPL lens. I noticed that it actually reduce some lights coming into my camera. No wonder whenever i take day shots with overcast skies, pics turn dull. Night shots on a tripod with f8.0 and 15 sec exposure looks dull too. everything looks dull. But on a bright sunny day, the CPL works great producing saturated blue skies.

Is there any 52mm lens out there to protect my S3 zoom lens without compromising light coming into my camera? Does UV filter affects abit of incoming light as well? Pls advise. Im abit fustrated with my CPL now. ;(

Thanks cerebrus. Now a days I shoot colour then convert. Built-in B&W mode is not good.:)

Hey iboey, CPL will definitely reduce the light input as it cancel/block out light oscilating in certain angle, thus able to reduce the reflection on glass/water mah. Use it for blue sky, glass and nice water.....remove when light is low.:)

UV filter will only filter UV spectrum of light, so won't affect the visible spectrum, so you can have it on all the time.

Many thanx dude for the prompt replies...soothe my fustration lol :bsmilie:

Dun get frustrated with the CPL, its a very good investment, especially outdoor shoot and our cam can only go to f8 the smallest....it helps when you really need to reduce the light.:)

I can help simply because you asked about the only 2 accessories I bought for my S3 (apart from the adapter to mount them).:)

Whats you workflow?

It is documented below:

http://forums.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=211137

But after conversion, I will do the usually brightness/contrast, sharpening, curve, dodge and burn if necessary, for various mood....not all pic will go thru all the above process lah.....its in diff permutation based from case to case.....

I am a new learner....I start learning PS after joining here....so may be wrong....
