I shot this at F/8 for 2secs with my S2 IS. Didn't know a prosumer could shoot fireworks like this initially.

I didn't have a tripod since I'm at the stadium, this makes me like the shot even more. Feel free to C&C. :)

lol u havent play wif ur S2 long enough.

ya lor, i've only played it for around 4 mths and this is my 1st attempt shooting fireworks. :bsmilie:

Hey GeckoZ, thanx for your comments. How I wish my Aunt's unit is higher up.....then can see the inside of the stadium.....:)

wow!! i love "smoking down" and "smoking down with stadium" most!! the fireworks photos are nice in terms of colours though! Nice!

EDIT: Didn't see your 2nd post, I love #7 too!! Last Glory! Beautiful lights and colours!

Thanks cerebrus. This pic has nice sky colour, without PP.....I think I over done the blue saturation on the one with stadium...getting a bit purplish:)

I like the composition. Would it be better without the cord? Gives me a sense of loneliness, old age. A wee bit noisy for me though. Have you tried a B&W?

ahhh~ i like the presence of the cord though, the composition looks just right with it. Without the cord looks weird to me..

Hi cerebrus, I think the cord completes the fan....the noise was intentional for the old aged feel. Din try BW, tot brown makes it feel old. Thanks for your comment, and good that you feel the loneliness.....if you observe, the fan motor is tilted downward subtly, just like a lonely, sad old person......

I like the composition too and somehow it gives me the feeling that the fan is very sad and moody. However, if you want the old look, you may want to try sepia colour. I think it would enhance the whole feel of the pic.

Will try that. Actually I would like the lighting to be from one side of the fan, like from the right to the left. But I was at my Aunt's place, paisey to play around with the lighting.:)

Thanks for your suggestion!:D

lastboltnut... we using SX cam leh.. how to have long enuf exp to get star trail... It was an unintended effect. I suspect is some lens flare from the bright lights around. I was using the Raynox .66 WC in this shot.

I was hoping that you will tell me with a laptop you can extend the exposure timing.....:bsmilie:

how did you create the zoom out effects from tt picture??? done by pp??? :what:

i like the perspective of all three shots! but the framing of 1st shot not impressive leh.. :dunno:

and what does SX stands for ar? and what is Raynox .66 WC?? sorry, quite noob at this. :bsmilie:

Hi GeckoZ,

He was refering to our S2/S3 cam, so just call SX loh.:)

Raynox .66 WC = Raynox brand 0.66 ratio Wide Converter. It's the WC that adds more perspective to the building.

It was some reflection, not zoom out effect. Actually boogle, can use a hood to eliminate this.

Let me answer the last qn first. SX means S1/S2/S3 lah.. lazy to type :embrass: Raynox has a 0.66 Wide converter lens that allows a wider shot to be taken. You can read more here:
http://lensmateonline.com/newsite/S2wide.html

That prob answers your first qn as well. It was due to the wide converter that I get the zoom out effect.

As for 1st shot.. I agree is quite weak. But not often I see the moon so close to a building. Challenge was to find a setting where I can still see the moon crescent shape and also the details in the building.

I also Noob lah. Just that after reading a lot of the posts here, I have learnt a great deal... and also been tempted to get a lot of accessories. :P total cost has already exceeded the cam cost I suspect... jialat. Must take more pics to justify the heavy investments.
