hi,

sometimes, using PS might achieve a better effect instead?
cos' by overexposing so much...there is nothing much you can control after that.

i did try to overexposed and blur my photos for the heck of it...
and looks quite good too...
personal point of view, i think they are overly overexposed.
but anyway, good try for something new!

I believe there are many fundamental differences between the 2 different series of work. Like how 1 is done via postprocessing, another is basically intentional wrong setting of the camera..

Sorry for the confusion...

i tink alot of u are getting the story wrong....a high key image is one whereby most of the tones appear in the highlights...

that doesnt mean it has to be overexposed or anything.....

say for example i take a picture of a blonde girl wearing a white dress against a white wall....BUT i still maintain all the details in the dress and hair and all...it is still a high key....

cheers

Coz few of the shots were taken is a sheltered area ... I cant get it to overexpose at lower iso at the location ...
Very strange indeed. I'm curious why not.
Just off chance, I recall you're using a Nikon Camera. I'm not very familiar with the Nikon cameras, but does it have a M mode?

when set to M mode and aperture to widest....he might have to set the shutter speed to a few seconds to get overexposed shots like those...
and most likely will get blurred images due to the speed.

you want to do hi-key is it??
but you lost too many details...

I think all this just goes to show that you do not have a very good understanding of what you are doing and what you wanted to achieve when you did this ON PURPOSE.

The basic fundamentals (according to your explaination of shooting at iso1600) is already flawed and shows your lack of understanding in the technically aspects of photography ...

Read more and get a better grasp of before attempting too many things ... Always good to learn to walk properly before trying to run and do hurdles.

Like I said, this are test images :), I was shooting at is 1600 cos we were shooting inside a tunnel.

As this was a group model shoot, and there were a few different models, I was trying to test the effect on the various models.

Cannonball was right abt the shutterspeed part. If I do not up my ISO inside the tunnel, the other means was to bring the model out of the tunnel, then I can overexpose her normally in direct sunlight ...

If these are test images. Keep them in your harddisk.

High contrast shots still leaves tones and details. In this series, I see ghostly images.

wow, your taste sure is special, i think much of the details are missing

Well, I post these test images coz I need the negative comments for my own reference ...

actually...i tink at the end of the day...we should all be our own best critic... :D

Well, I really think that the imges are way blown off the top.

Have u gotten an idea of what u want to achieve? Have u exhausted all means of adjusting your various parameters (aperture, shutter speed, ISO, EV, etc) before u jump in shooting with ISO 1600?

I think that when one presents images for critique, I believe that one is trying to invite opinions, and a different POVs from oneself. If one tries to defend vehemently his/her POV, then I don't think he/she can improve much, since he/she can't see out of the comfort of his/her own gogglebox.

Only those done in the dark were ISO 1600

Most of these were done ISO 200 in direct sunlight which was more than enough to overexpose them ...

Well, I need the negative comments for these images coz I intend to use them :).

you know what you wanted to achieve so the question is do you think you achieved it?
Well, I'm still wondering how to remove the details without having the face blending into the bg :) ...
