[Rumors] 3 Different Pens and Super Fast AF

ClubSNAP will be posting a review/preview shortly -:)My personal comments on the lens and the new camera, BEAUTIFUL!
12mm f2, super AF and HG lens quality..? I could not wait to get that.

They mentioned that "Old lenses will focus faster on the new Pen cameras". I'm hoping this refers to 43 lenses...

Me too,I like the 50/2 but the AF/MF is disappointment.

I think we have to remember this is a company that only on the every oft-chance (like 3-4 years) might release something stellar. And its track record quite frankly over the last few years has been dismal. Sure faster AF is better but again, it seems limited to some lenses (again!) and maybe faster on others. I really highly doubt it is much faster than Panasonic's AF. Maybe a bit more, but seriously not so much.

Sometimes I wished Olympus be more consistent, and quit the "multiple copies of the same damn thing".

The rumours all point to AF faster than Panasonic's GH2. Not sure how much faster anyone can make CDAF as the GH2 paired with the 14-140 focuses instaneously when you half press the shutter. With Q-AF or C-AF on, the lens already prefocuses when you point the lens at anything. So IMHO, it may just be a paper value as to me the GH2 is already "immediate". I think this is just a marketing pitch...

am lost...may i ask why is the new 12mm new lens preferred when by using a wide convertor lens on 14-42mm lens, it can achieve a 11mm result? is it just because of the fast AF?

It's probably that the 12mm lens is thought to be of much higher optical quality than the 14-42mm lens one-on-one. Add to that the degradation when using the wide converter and things look much better for the single, naturally wide lens with a single focal length.

okie i see, thx for the explanation :)

i agree. the 12mm wont be for the 'regular' users. it has a specific use, a prime lens for WA shots that require high optics.

for the rest of us, we will be contented with adaptors and such just to get that "wideangle-effect"

It is a lot easier to design a prime lens for a fixed focal length and make it fast.

Either way, it is a niche lens. 24mm is great though for a mix of architecture and street.

anyone here have pics of using the wide angled convertor? just wana take a look at the picture turnout...

wow exciting time ahead for m4/3 users...
dunno about u guys but i am excited... heehee...
