[Rumor] Nikon Retro Hybrid Mirrorless Camera (FX)

The mechanical sounds make it seem like it will be expensive... :(

Waiting for more news.

a digital FM2 would be tempting

Possibly similar to the OM-D in concept, but with FX sensor. I can almost picture that in my mind now.:vhappy:

Yeah, totally similar except that the OM-D doesn't have a mirror and an optical viewfinder. Actually I doubt there is anything similar.

Totally similar or doubt anything similar? Make up your mind.

My money is on FM2/FM3A or F3 body with digital gut. Call it FM3D or F3D. Will be quite expensive due to FX and mechanical construction, clue from the mechanical shutter release sound.

Something I've been waiting for years. I was wishing for FE2D, or FE3D he he... Actually F3D would be more logical given the price Nikon is likely to charge.

But I thought the thread title says "retro" and "mirrorless", so the OM-D immediately came to mind if we are talking SLR. If we talking rangefinder then it will have to look like the Nikon S series RF models, and working similar to the Fujifilm X series retro RF cameras, except I wouldn't want to use the standard F-mount SLR lenses cos they'll be too bulky. RF lenses can be more compact, but will mean a totally new range of lenses.

Why? The OM-D isn't even a SLR.

D4H vs DF is a world of difference.. or could it be that there will be 2 new cameras (clever Nikon marketing, keep them guessing!)?? :-) ... come come now.. I would happy keep all my Nikon stuff (don't believe in selling and buying every time there is a new camera) and just buy a Sony A7 where I can fit my older Nikon AI / AI-s / AF-D lenses and at some stage buy some extra some Voigtlander lenses for kick and insight, sounds like a good way to go for me... :-)

The admin posted already the D4H was 100% bs.

I would like to get in touch with him and inform him that Nikon are in progress of making a camera that will be called D4x (not be this one but Nikon will come up with one {in some distant future!} :-) , and that will be way too more reliable than this being a D4H...)

Nikon has been teasing photographers with its retro full-frame DSLR to be launched on 6th Nov 2013. I've enhanced the image from the teaser video to draw out more details. What do you think it looks like?
