With HDTV, I can see skin imperfections on people and so can you easily see with the SHG and some HG lenses.

Which of those prime lenses are even good wide open? You buy f/1.2, hoping to get a sharp f/1.4, and you buy f/1.4, hoping to get a sharp f/1.8. The f/1.8 lenses are inexpensive and you can only hope to get a sharp f/2.8.

How many people want something for nothing?

They see a great photo and they go to a store expecting to pay $150 to get an equivalent camera that fits in their pocket. When someone tells them that the photo was taken with $1500 of equipment, they say that it's overpriced.

well my pan leica 25/1.4 is sharp wide open and so is my sigma 50/1.4

As compared to the oly 50mm f/2.0?;p

No, seriously. Use the 14-35mm and compare. That should have been the standard for prime lenses. I don't see why a zoom lens can be that sharp, but primes aren't.

I could believe that the Panasonic-Leica might be but any Sigma sharp (wide open)?

Sigma sharp wide open? Where did you buy yours? Mine became a paperweight after 2 weeks of use and given away. Sorry to those who love this lens. It is rubbish and a complete waste of time for me. Even after Sigma "calibrated" the lens. Not even half the lens the 50mm macro is.

That one is a razor blade, not lens.

I had a friend who got his good copy of the 14-35mm in US. Got it focus calibrated here for his E-30 body. It's no razor blade man! That thing is a freaking LIGHTSABER at f/4.0!!!

That is definitely an insane lens. Too bad it is too heavy for my use and I still prefer the 12-60mm or 14-54mm as they are light lenses as well as the focal lengths are perfect for photojournalistic work.

Imagine... the E-5 is bundled with the 14-35mm as "standard lens"... oh man... that would be totally insane.

Try it on E-PL1 to see its power even better :bsmilie:

"But it only becomes absolutely apparent if you are using it with one of the latest Olympus cameras with the thinnest of anti-aliasing filters. I first used the lens with an E-30 and it was great but lacked tiny detail as you blow it up (the nemesis of nearly all Olympus cameras). In the enlargement range served by its actual resolution (without interpolation) it was as good as anything you'd find, but the minute you stepped over into the world of enlarged files the fine detail tanked. I was crestfallen until I slapped the lens onto the Olympus EPL-1 with an adapter. While the focusing was slow the image quality in the final files was amazing."

With lenses like these, WHO NEEDS CAMERAs???

I myself use the 14-54mm... I've loved this lens ever since I mounted the version one with the E410. ;)

But yeah, imagine all E-5 coming with the 14-35mm, pre-calibrated.

I heard the same news too! But no such chance so far. Maybe at photowalk we could take a cityscape picture if anyone brings that lens and EPL1 along.

Uh... Uh........ Uh...............

I ain't sure if anyone has that lightsaber though:bsmilie:

I'd used 14-35mm SWD extensively with E-PL1. AF speed sucks. Drained battery. But the resulting image quality is superb!

My experience with a AF calibrated E-3 coupled to 14-35mm SWD is... WOW!

I have a copy of 14-35 too. but not calibrated. do i need to calibrate it???

4/3 is dead liao. I posted my 12-60 for sale so many months cannot sell :(

Well, saw someone sold his 14-35mm for $1850, so far already from original price, and seller said people still wrote to him saying price too high ... maybe your price needs to be lower ? I forgot how much I sold my 12-60 ...
